Authentic Chinese inn dining
Savour their Szechuan and Guangdong dishes in a setting reminiscent of casual inn dining in China – think wooden stools with traditional motifs, concrete-like flooring and shelves filled with chinese herbs and spices. A star dish here is the Poached Fish in Mala Broth ($26.80), a rather fiery, slightly tangy soup-dish that has fresh fish, thick glass noodles, beancurd noodles and vegetables. Order this on Fridays, from 6pm till late, and get a complimentary plate of Meat Dumplings.

Affordable Vietnamese chow
The Beef Pho ($10.90) here in this casual eatery is to die for. The rich broth, boiled for at least four hours (the low fire isn't turned off until the end of the day!), envelopes the springy rice noodles so every mouthful is extremely flavourful. The bowl comes with beef brisket, sliced beef and beef balls. Every Friday, from 6pm till late, order two mains and get a complimentary rice paper Chicken Summer Roll ($7.90) or a crispy Fried Spring Roll ($6.90). You can wash all of that down with a refreshing and light-tasting Lemongrass Cooler ($3.50).

A meat lover's paradise
A good ol' steakhouse that will satisfy your ribs and steak cravings. You have to go for their signature dish on the Outback Favourites menu, the Baby Back Ribs (from $22.90 for half a rack) – it's fall-off-the-bone tender and smeared with a tangy BBQ sauce. The ribs have actually been smoked for at least two hours before being put on the grill. Don't discount the fries either – they are super crisp on the outside and mash-potato soft on the inside. Every Friday, get 50 per cent off on the second item purchased from the Outback Favourites menu, which includes dishes like Black Pepper Steak ($27.90) and Grilled Pork Chops ($26.90).

Instagram-worthy gourmet sandwiches
Ogle at their super pretty cakes and then give in to temptation by ordering one... or two – whatever makes you happy. Besides their heaven-inducing French confections, Patisserie G now serves gourmet sandwiches. The oft-underestimated Vegetarian Sandwich ($9.50) is a winner, with its surprising sweet-savoury profile. Grilled eggplant, green zucchini, red bell peppers sit between layers of baby spinach, blended chestnut and a light curry sauce, held together by toasted ciabatta. If you must have your meat, the Beef Sandwich ($11.50) should hit the spot with its tender beef slices (slow-cooked sous vide for 10 hours), gruyere cheese, caramelised onion and rocket leaves. Enjoy a cup of brewed coffee or tea ($4.50) on the house with every sandwich order on Mondays. They get their coffee from local roastery Liberty Coffee.

Massive, tasty salads
If you think a salad is going to leave you hungry, you'll be proven wrong at The Green Bar. Each large bowl is chock-full of ingredients that make vegetable-eating a pleasurable affair, even for the haters. A new item on the menu is the Smoked Duck Mango Tango ($13.90), which includes generously thick slices of smoked duck, chunks of sweet mango, beetroot, watercress, lettuce, rosemary-baked potato – and a whole lot more – drizzled with a yuzu dressing. The sweetness and tang of the salad is refreshing and compliments the savoury duck pieces.
