From noon to 4pm, Grand Park Orchard’s level four restaurant is dishing out an all-you-can-eat afternoon tea. Included is an array of good local comfort food as well as some western fare, including popiah, dim sums, roasted meats, Asian noodles, claypot delicacies and wood-fired pizzas – cooked à la minute at four ‘live’ cooking stations.

Peranakan buffet like grandmother used to make

It’s a culinary heritage trip with this lunch and dinner Peranakan buffet at the Grand Mercure Roxy hotel’s restaurant. Savour authentic dishes like bakwan kepiting (crab and pork ball soup), ayam buah keluak and loh kai yik (Cantonese-style stewed chicken wings). Unlimited dim sum brunch with durian dessert

This unlimited dim sum brunch comes with a durian dessert buffet: the spread ranges from handcrafted ‘little heart’ morsels like steamed salted yolk custard buns to savoury dishes like the seafood fried rice with walnuts and wolfberries and pan-fried black pepper crab. The durian desserts come with a twist – expect a Peranakan durian pengat (durian in thick sweet coconut milk) and a Chinese-inspired durian bao.

International buffet with wines

Appetisers, soups, sushi and sashimi, seafood on ice and other delicacies from all over the world can be had with a glass of sparkling wine. Highlights include roasted rack of lamb with honey and mint, poached Maine lobsters and a dessert corner replete with sweets, pastries and macarons.

There is something for everyone: apart from a varied selection of dim sum like steamed pork ribs with black bean, pan fried carrot cake, deep fried bean curd skin wrap, siew mai, har gou (prawn dumplings) and steamed rice flour roll with char siew – all served via trolleys, there are also à la carte dishes like camphor tea smoked duck, pan-fried kurobuta cutlet with black pepper sauce and specialty desserts like braised whole abalone with homemade beancurd and chilled bird’s nest with hashima.

Six-course bird’s nest extravaganza

The Royal Bird’s Nest Feast is a six-course meal highlighting the prized swallow’s delicacy that is said to have nourishing effects like improving one’s complexion, strengthening the immune system and alleviating asthma. Created by Executive Chef Lau Chi Keung, the luxurious set includes the jelly-like ingredient in a salad with crab meat cooked Japanese style in broth, sautéed with silken egg white in white truffle sauce, and chilled and served with aloe vera in a young coconut.

Price: $98++ per person, minimum of two persons. Citibank credit cardholders enjoy one free Royal Bird’s Nest set menu with every five sets ordered.

Seven to nine-course Cantonese feast for the family

The restaurant’s signature tea smoked duck in tea leaf, crispy suckling pig with jelly fish and baked ‘Wu-Xi’ pork ribs with Zhen Jiang (black) vinegar are part of this feast. In addition, all set menus will include steamed longevity buns – an offering signifying longevity and good health, for mum and the whole family – and mothers get a complimentary steamed layer cake on this special occasion.

A three-course French affair

Chef de Cuisine Claudio Sandri pulls out all the stops for this elegant three-course Mother’s Day French meal featuring a choice of classic starters like the traditional French onion soup, or French escargots in puff pastry with tomato confit, followed by beef Wellington with mashed potatoes or grilled Scottish salmon with creamed leeks and orange and fennel salad. Dessert is chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream or passion fruit crème brulee.
