What better gift to make than a cake to honor the lady of your life? Here are three cake recipes – a tangy lemon curd cake, a striking and creamy marbled velvet cake and a cocoa-dusted caramel chocolate banana cake – for mothers with differing taste buds. Some components can be prepared ahead of time to for convenient assembling: While the cakes themselves can be made up to two days in advance (make sure to cover it in cling film to avoid drying out), the ganache and caramel can be made up to three days before.
