4 American restaurants to book online

Hard Rock Cafe
For surprisingly affordable lunch sets
Synonymous with good old American grub and vintage memorabilia, Hard Rock Café has been fanning appetites in Singapore since its inception here more than two decades ago. We like the fact that the restaurant peps the lunch crowd, with its three-course set lunch ($15) becoming a firm favourite among office workers. Kick-start a noon binge with either a house salad or soup, followed by an entrée—we recommend the crispy sea bass (pan-fried fillet served with pesto sauce)—before arriving at a satisfying finale with Haagen-Dazs ice cream.

Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill
For fusion flavours on a riverboat
America and Mexico are neighbours. Not surprisingly, such close proximity has resulted in the exchange of cultural influences, with Tex-Mex (Texan/Mexican) cuisine being one of the prime examples. Santa Fe swears by it, and we’re grateful. Resting on the upper deck of a Mississippian riverboat replica (Stewords Riverboat), the establishment has food promotions on constantly, such as the latest $15 promotions for its 15th anniversary special (6-10pm only)— from now till 15 July. Do not miss out on their popular baby back ribs ($26.95), or Southwestern States’ first love—chimichangas (deep fried burrito, $8.50).

Smokey’s BBQ & Grill
For a taste of smoked-out roasts
Food, like music, should delight. And at Smokey’s BBQ & Grill it certainly does. Piquant choices from their menu’s ‘From Our Smoker’ section, such as the smoked chicken leg ($18) and smoked grain fed beef rib (over 20 hours of slow roasting and smoking, $43) take precedence. If you’d rather have seafood, try the smoked salmon sandwich ($19) or southern fried smoked fish (corn meal crusted and pan fried to a glorious golden brown, $19). A special blend of smoke wood is used to produce an American smokey flavour that drifts through each bite. Utter bliss.

TGI Friday’s
For generous, authentic American staples
There’s a difference between American food and real American food. A glance at TGI Friday’s menu and a little googling of its history will leave you suitably impressed. We like how the establishment doesn’t just sit back on its favourites and rake in the dough. New dishes are created and ready for contention, with championship BBQ ribs (full rack smothered in BBQ sauce, fire-grilled and served with onion rings and coleslaw, $37.90) as well as Key West whitefish (roasted whitefish topped with sparkling citrus splash, $22.90) entering the fray.
