Buffet delights for Secretaries' Week

A well-fed personal assistant (PA) is the key to a happy, hassle-free working life.

They’re the gatekeepers of your schedule, the people who can route you direct (or indirectly) on a redeye flight to New York, and often don’t ask for anything more than a simple thank you.

This coming Secretaries’ Week, otherwise known as Administrative Professionals’ Week (23-27 April), show him/her your heartfelt appreciation and take him/her out to for a boozy buffet, and while you’re at it, why not give him/her the rest of the day off?

Here are eight of our best buffet recommendations.

Marriott Café

Trust us, your PA is the drinking sort, and who can blame them? Bribe him/her to reveals more office secrets with endless flutes of Bollinger bubbly and a plate piled high with honey pork spare rib, chunks of slow roasted Australian striploin, fresh seafood and piping hot morsels of dim sum.

Town Restaurant

Your PA’s fluorescent-light suntan is reaching blinding levels, solve the problem with a lavish alfresco buffet lunch by the Singapore River at Town Restaurant. The buffet features an extensive spread of Asian and Western dishes, the sinful but delicious Town laksa, succulent Asian roasts, chicken rice, bak kut teh, freshly-shucked oysters, and made-to-order pastas.

Equinox Restaurant

You may have an unbeatable view of Marina Bay but what about your PA? Take him/her out to Equinox Restaurant, where the panoramic city views will give your PA extra bragging rights. Feast on a semi-buffet with main courses such as confit of duck leg with white bean and smoked pancetta, al dente  tagliatelle pasta with wild mushrooms, roasted breast of chicken with sweet corn fritters, amongst other sumptuous dishes such as lobster, king crab, oysters, a chocolate fondue fountain and an extensive cheese spread.

The bonus: Booze solves many problems, and your administrative professional will receive a voucher, which entitles him/her to a complimentary beverage at New Asia bar.

The Dining Room

Gorge on fresh sashimi and sushi, roasted prime rib of beef, pan-fried red snapper fillets, roasted five spices duck and a curry station. End your meal on a sweet note, grazing through an array of desserts such as the chocolate and espresso panna cotta, ivory yoghurt, berry kissel, pear william cake and more.

Show your appreciation to your able assistant with a deserving meal at the Olive Tree. Feast on an array of delights such as beef cheek terrine with green tomato chutney, John Dory fillet in citrus beurre blanc sauce, seafood thermidor, and since you’re going to give him/her the rest of the day off (you are, aren’t you?) you can both indulge in some durian mousse cake.

The bonus: The chance to win a one-night stay at InterContinental Singapore inclusive of afternoon high tea for two vouchers worth $500++.

Café Mosaic

A lavish lunch will buy you some favours, so imagine the amount of goodwill you’ll earn if he/she walks away with a weekend stay (see below). Seafood is Café Mosaic’s focus: freshly-shucked oysters, blue mussels, poached prawns, flower clams, gong gong and grilled stingray make up their spread. Save a space though for dessert.
