| Grilled Südendeutschland bites and other things
The stall is manned by a gruff-looking Austrian owner who grills the sausages in front of you. Service is alright though, he lets the food take its time to cook but otherwise there's no dilly-dallying.
I've had meatloaf and various sausages before. They're all nicely cooked for a start. The meatloaf isn't bad but it isn't exceptional either. The same can be said of the sauerkraut - don't expect bacon bits or spices in this. The (small) sausages are tasty - real cheese oozes out of the käsekreiner - but salty. It's better to have them with the onion bread, which is soft and mildly sweet.
(Try this: Bring a small loaf of onion bread home, stuff it with cheese and toast it in the oven. It makes a lovely snack.)
If supermarket franks or Superdog just won't do, here's an option. For the price and the size though, the latter is better value. |

| German in Chinatown
Erich's stand is unique in Chinatown because it and he stands out. A tall German running a small 2 sq m stand along a street in Chinatown. He has kindly provided a few stools along the side for those who order beer from the nearby coffee shop to go with the wurst - best combination for those not in the know.
Reservation: None, just stand up and eat, if the stools are free - grab it. His wife (Asian) will help you and talk to you while you eat).
Food: Good sausages - he makes himself, small and large ones. Best to order the mix of different sausage - and always eat with European mustard - different from the sweet US mustard. Meaty, tasty, hot off the stove sausages. I cannot walk past the stall without buying one.
Ambience: wet when it rains, best in the evening and dry nights - cool and lots of sights.
Value: Low priced wurst which are good quality.
Service: Friendly and fast, |
