After reading the ST 50 cakes list, I've realised that I don't like cakes that much since very few appeal to me, notwithstanding their pedigree and following.

Of all the chocolate cakes listed - I wonder why Awfully Chocolate's "All Chocolate" cake, and The Patissier's Chocolate Fudge cake weren't featured. I reckon they are as good as, if not, better than Lana.

    hihi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how big is Goodwood Park's 1.3kg durian mousse cake? Tentatively, is it even 15cm in diameter or smaller/larger?

Has anyone tried the durian/pandan/coconut cake from there?

Aarrgghh! I can't find my Sunday Times cut-out of Singapore's 50 best cakes anywhere! I must have accidentally sold it to the karang-guni man. ICE, I clicked on your PDF link but there's no list there. Help! My sister-in-law forgot her boyfriend's birthday last week, so he's really upset with her. To make up for it, she's planning a surprise birthday party this weekend and she wants to order a special cake.

Can anybody share the list of the 50 best cakes please, or point me to where I can find it? Many thanks.

carol: why don't you take the recommendations from the list I highlighted? At least I think these cakes are good. Then I can let you know the location.
    • CommentAuthorCarol Chua (CommentTimeAug 20th 2008)

Library? Gosh, I've not been there in yonks. It's so much easier to surf the net for info. But maybe I'll visit the library just to zap a copy.

This best cake subject has been very challenging for me to research. I've been trying my best to eat healthy for the past few months and now I've got a craving for something totally sinful:wink: My sis-in-law owes me big time.

Purely for research, and pardon my ignorance, but who does have the absolute best Black Forest Cake? Laurent's or mezza9? And where are these places? And where are Canele and PS Cafe?

By the way, someone brought an amazing fudgey molten dark chocolate cake to a recent gathering I attended. Everybody raved over it. I think it was from Black Angus. I'm a good girl but I must admit to dreaming about it from time to time.

hahaha...CC... Just type in the name of the cake shop in HGW main site, it will state its address with a google map too.

Canele main branch is at mohd sultan area near the DBS art theatre, PS cafe has a few branches too, the popular ones are at paragon and dempsey.

Black forest? I'm looking for a good one too..kindly post here if you find a really good one.

My current cake places are, freshly bake at kiliney, ricciotti at riverside, lana at bukit timah, oh and ah teng at raffles. Em...this reminds me..i got to get to freshly bake to try their blackforest!!! yumm yuumm....

OH! just remembered i had black forest at Fringe cafe (part of a dance studio) in bukitimah shopping centre, the one with the Popular bookstore and ntuc. The black forest is nice and SIMPLE with light cream and sponge. however, i think there're not enough cherries in it, but they do put a fresh juicy cherry on top. I like their cake display too...very tempting! hahaha...Its a pity that its not listed in HGW currently. So do give it a try if u are around the area.
