    Dear all,

After hearing from your feedback, we have decided to change the format for the Top Poster prize competition in Feb.

The Top 20 posters will be judged no longer by the number of posts they make, but instead by the number of thank yous (thumbs up icons) they receive from other posters.

    Have a great week ahead!

Dear all, especially our loyal forum posters over the last 2 weeks,

We owe all of you an explanation for the sudden change in format for the Top Poster prize, please hear us out below:

    (1) Firstly, please let me apologise for the late clarification. Have been fighting this nasty flu bug for the last 2 days, the message I left above was the last action I did before I konked out.

    (2) The change was not something taken hastily, but after much thought and consideration. I need to first state two things:

    (i) I really enjoyed reading all the posts made by our loyal forum posters, even though many of the discussion threads were going off topic, because many of these posts are about life and the perspectives shared are something I can relate to. It does help that we are all in the same age group! LOL! :rolling:

(ii) I am aware that everyone is posting because of the enjoyment of interacting with each other, rather than the prize vouchers per se. This is something wonderful because it tells us that real bonds are being built between our community, something which makes us very happy to see. :cheer:

However, we have been getting increasing feedback that the forum was becoming very messy and it was getting very difficult to find information on food and makan places, the exact reason this forum has been set up for.

While we understand that all our loyal forum users are not posting for the prize vouchers per se, we nevertheless needed to send a signal that we really, really needed posts on food and makan places - these are the posts that would get the poster the thumbs up from other readers of this forum since people come into the foodies forum primarily to look for places to eat, makan etc. If you analysed the posts over the 2-3 days before we changed the top poster competition format, there was a worrying drop in makan places and food recommendations, and that was the time when we started to hear increasing number of feedback that the forum was starting to lose its usefulness.

    (3) Please rest assured that we totally understand that this format change would not be fair to those who have taken the effort to post so many posts over the past few days (i.e. Panerai, PG, JW etc). However, I have already taken notice on who our loyal forum posters are, and there are many other ways to reward our loyal forum posters :cheer: , besides the vouchers we are offering (we had to use that as our signalling tool). Actually, most of our loyal forum posters will probably still win the vouchers even with this rule change, but for those who somehow don't, please rest assured that we already have plans on giving you special treats. No one will be left out here. We are very happy that bonds/relationships are being built among our forum users, and we intend to continue that.

    (4) We will be conducting a mass clean up of the forum soon (once we test this new tool that we are creating) so that people viewing the forum will be able to find what they want quickly under the respective discussion threads. In addition, we will be creating new sections where our loyal forum posters can interact more freely with each other without worrying about going off topic.

We do ask for your support, patience and understanding. We will definitely work hard to make sure none of our loyal forum posters are left behind because of this format change, and even harder to ensure that the bonds between our loyal hungrygowhere community are strengthened in the weeks/months ahead. Because right from the very beginning, we have already known that our community must always come first.

Please give us some time however, as I'm still fighting the flu bug, and the software for cleaning up the forum is not ready yet. I had to post this now however as I did not want to delay clarifying this any longer.

Thank you so much for understanding. Looking forward to catching up with everyone soon!

Thanks once again for your patience and understanding!
