Posted By: iceoh on the topic of macs...has anyone tasted the new mcgriddles?

is this the only one new version or is the super old sausage biscuit back too?
Tasted a little too sweet with all the maple syrup. But it has got a nice bite to it. It's like they reinvented hotcakes with sausage into a package like a McMuffin.

What's this super old sausage biscuit?

    orh...so it's kinda like a "constructed" hotcakes w sausage...

the sausage biscuit if you remember...I don't believe anyone can forget that coz that was prob the nicest item offering Macs has ever introduced in Spore. some many years ago...(SY you cant be anywhere far from my time) they had this breakfast item using a scone-like "biscuit" as the "muffin" part. don't know why they discontinued this item coz it really was well-liked by many. I believe this is still a permanent menu fixture in the US.

nt forgetting the recent rara n jive for bachang.... though bachang n kee-chang is found world wide, in nearly every asian country. the unique nonya chang seems to be readily available only in sg. apparently, even our immediate neighbors dont have the luxury of savoring nonya chang.

Yu Sheng and Kaya . Others are fusion or imports . I won't qualify anything from McDonalds as food

FYI... the typical yusheng during CNY was adapted from cantonese style... n is widely available in hongkong. differences in the ingredients varies among different dialect groups.

as for kaya, its commonly found in our peninsula, so far, no real claim as to where it originated, cos it dates a long time back, n can be found in thailand, m'sia, sg & indonesia... the only difference is the texture & fragrance.

Hainanese Chicken Rice - I asked my dad recently to get me a recipe from Hainan and he gave me this strange look! So there you go, yet another local innovation

Exactly. The dish was concocted by the overseas Hainan community in Nanyang.
Recently, people from Hainan learnt to do it to a similar standard as here - although many of the versions found in Hainan are atrocious.

    Hi Contrarian,

What do you mean by atrocious?

Means nothing like the chicken rice you have here, not even those in your neighbourhood coffee shop staff. The rice, the chicken, the chilli - Hainan chicken rice in name only, plus it's in Hainan.
