Sometimes we eat so much, we neglect our manners...

i see people all around, put tissue papers or something on empty seats to signal they have reserved that particular seat...

it that tolerable? Or does it deprive the guy next to you of a good available seat?

the least a group could do is to leave one of their cronies behind while they buy their well deserved meal

and for those alone...like me, why do we need to sit the whole table of 2, 4 or more by ourselves? Ridiculous! Privacy issues? My foot...it's just lunch!

i think we should not do that...what you guys think?

i personally think that if you would like to reserve a seat, ask 1 of your friends to sit while the rest buys the food. one can buy the food for the person seated.

or the rest can simply buy the food, return, allow the person waiting to buy thier food and another 1 buy drinks for all. and when they both return, every1 can tuck in. i alwez wait for everyone's food to arrive before i eat mine
  1.
i think tissues are bad. i mean am i supposed to know that you are chop-ping seats and not accidentally left it behind? last time i met with someone who scolded us because they 'chopped the place' and we just took it.

i think sharing seats with other people should be practiced because its so sickening to see empty places but inconsiderate people who dont let you sit there.
  2.
when you are alone, how do you find seats before buying your food? I always buy my ood first then cant find a seat then got to carry the bowl around looking for one.
  3.
tissue no count to me...i usually throw it away......tissue got your name meh? =P hahaha if you want put wallet lah...ahhahaha sure no one take your seat unless someone take your wallet... =P

actually i think they don't really "reserve" seats overseas unless someone seats there and wait
  6.
no system to reserve seats in US...first some first serve...got space just seat
  7.
    no one minds sharing...

wait for friends come back 10 mins, wait for order another 10 mins..eat within 5 mins....20 minutes wasted and someone could have used those seats :(
  11.
blame the self service thing lah...if they all send the food no need to chop liao can all sit down and wait...ahahha

i think its one of those game theory inefficient outcomes.

everyone don't do, everyone wins. but its not a credible outcome for everyone to don't do, because the moment they do it, the incentive is too strong for at least one person to break rank and start choping to get ahead of the rest.

therefore everyone end up doing, everyone loses in terms of time wastage
  12.
but when people like me don't ply by the assumed rules and start throwing away your tissue then the theory fails =P hahaha

i think the best way to reserve seats is to eat in a restaurant...confirm got seat :)
  14.
hahah not true...need to stand outside and wait if busy

Yes PG, but yours is only a tactical solution leh....unless everyone starts throwing the tissue away, the strategic picture still will not change. People are still incentivised to use the tissue method because it worked for them in the past. :rolling:
  15.
DG ...hahaha when more and more ppl start to throw away tissue then we have a real movement...ahahhaha
