Posted By: iheartbread1. Jing Hua for its rich milky-style fish soup, long queues expected (Stall #77 Maxwell Road Food Centre)
    2. For fish soup with a dose of XO, try Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hoon (located at Blk 46 Holland Drive #01-359). You can smell the brandy wafting out!

I love the maxwell one but more for the fresh fish slices than the fried fish, fish slices are generous and i've have seen the uncle pour evaporated milk (i think) inside the soup which possibly adds to the milkiness. You can taste a type of fried flat fish ground in to add to the fragrance of the stock. wah lau.. -drools uncontrollably over keyboard-

My grandaunt brings a miniature bottle of XO or brandy along with her when she goes to the holland V one and pours it in slyly when nobody is looking. ;)

An update - china sq food centre has closed and i just find out this fish soup stall has shifted to Tanjong Pagar MRT station (xchange). Small eatery of its own.

By the way, i think there are two different Blanco Court fish soup.

    1) One is currently at Tg Pagar MRT station which was formerly at China Sq food centre

    2) The other one is at a corner coffeeshop along beach road http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/blanco_court_sliced_fish_bee_hoon/

Both have their fair share of crowd during lunch hour. Both have popular fried fish/fried egg soup.

    Differences

    (1) usually serves fried fish soup in clear soup with lots of parsley the (2) always serves fried fish soup in milky soup.

    (1) is more expensive, with starting price at SGD 4, (2) still stays at SGD 3?
    (1) soup is more bland
    (2) has mincec chilli and garlic in vinegar instead of just red cut chilli
    (2) usually serves with Caixin, while (1) serves with chinese lettuce.
    (1) has good sambal fried fish, (2) only has fish soup

    I much prefer (2)... :peace:
