    Am a fish and chips nut.

    So far in Singapore found a secret , the best Fish and Chips I have had here is in a little thi place on
    level 2 of Great World. They use COD and its delish.

    would like any recommendations for good F&C

    A good place for unusual F&C is at Zen....tempura batter..... If u like seabass F&C...then visit Absolute Haven.

    I've finally tried this before I flew out on Wednesday. What the 2 reviewers said about the fish and chips is true!! It's fabulous and gets contrarian's stamp of approval!

    Important note: Fish and chips is only served on Mon Wed and Fri. On the other days, a healthier choice of grilled catfish is served instead.
    The chicken follows the same sequence for the fried and grilled items, so the (seemingly) unhealthy choices are served together on Mon Wed and Fri!

    fried calamari at Fish & Co is pretty consistent. not fantastic but still can pass. juz had the new york fish n chips and the best fish and chips at F&Co the other day. the new york one is shiok!

    The fish is juicy and large.

    They are western theme restaurant with a super good fish and chips.

    Also the cheesecake is hotel standard.

    They also have chicken and beef lasagne. Worth the try!! Mmm... Chicken Chop,,, own secret receipe.. Hot stuff and also the ambience very cosy and nature reserve with plants indoor. Nice place to retreat in this hot cosy cheap cafe. No service charge...

    ice, MM fish n chips was ok for me...mmm...lets wait for cg's review. she's the one with the camera...

    BA, hope that u r feeling better...u missed out today! we went on a food walk about...MM fish n chips with dessert, walk to taka for strawberries ( korean food fair till 23 mar) n final stop rendevous hotel chendol!

    I'm still full....I will eat my strawberries for dinner later...eheheehe

    getting back to fish n chips...contrarian's review on T2 olive sth is out...mmmmreally tempted to go try that one...i prefer grilled fish to deep fried, so may go try their grilled fish

    oh man!!! CG! chippy's one is like hur? those are not DFMB!! those are just battered fats. :rolling:

    the chippy's one unhealthier though..coz they chop the poor bar into pieces then fry them. more surface area w the yeeks batter...i tried before...really horrid. :sad:

    the one at MM's really shiok! I am the dessert queen haha...actually it's actually one of the best desserts I've ever eaten in SGP i swear and i dun believe I'm actually saying this!!! DFMB fr MM!!!

    this one is fried WHOLE..so there isnt much batter..plus they serve it w a humongous scoop of haagen daz vanilla ice cream! that was how i ate it the last time i had it..dont know if they still do it though.... not ex too! :smile:

    btw CG: the price is nett rite? no extra charges am i rite?

    ar...looking at bill now, GST is stated but not charge to us...cod $22, FB $14 , 2cakes $14 = $50 (GST $3.27)

    dont forget the ones from oz, down under too. during my stint back there, i've had my fill on some of the best, fresh, chunkiest F&Cs. i'd strongly recommend that all HGW members should pay homage to sydney's fish mkt. tons of variety (beyond imagination) catering to everyone's tastebuds....

    quote, oz tourism phrase: "so, what r u waiting for?... where da bl**dy'ell r u??" hehehehe

    nope... doesnt taste like beer. they say its best to use soda/ aerated water for the batter, so as to give it more fluff. beer is essentially made from wheat/ malt/ barley... so basically, it doesnt really spoil the taste. in fact... better. (by my standards)

    i seldom eat fish and chips but whitebait and kale does a very good beer-battered version.
    fish is always fresh, and even with the deepfrying, it is suprisingly not oily and goes well with the malt vinegar.

    used to visit the uk 20 years ago, and in wales a f&c Shop
    with COD,fresh, never never frozen for f&C,homemade fries,allwrapped in bucher paper to take away
    cost then about 1GBP per huge serving. Was the best ever ate.

    i propose a lunch outing at wild olives on a sunday! cos fish n chips only available on mon/wed/fri/sun, and if we go on weeknights the canteen might hv closed alr.

    juz read the review on wild olives. DEFINITELY on everyone's list. maybe its even more appealing that the prices are low since they are located at the staff canteen. one thing, the stalls pay reasonably low rents at the staff canteen. And its even open to the public, that in a way generates more sales. btw if u can show them a changi airport or caas pass, u can get further discount (something like 50cents).

    too bad now i usually fly from T3.
