Posted By: caniggiaWhen you pray to your ancestors/ or offer to deities, I actually see people doing that too. and that's what they told me not to do too.Posted By: xLadYzStaRx™how about this old wive's tale. they say when u eat you don't stick the chopsticks upright in your rice as it's either offering to the gods or the ghost will eat your food. thank god i use chopsticks to eat noodles not ricecorrection, chopsticks in the bowl is for deceased/ ghosts only... deities & all in that category no need chopsticks liao
Posted By: xLadYzStaRx™i already verified with seniors.... vertical chopsticks in the bowl is offered to deceased/ghosts/spirits of the netherworld. while, processions where u witness it being done is for spirits/guardians for the "basement". those in upper deck & beyond dont need chopsticks in their bowls.Posted By: caniggiaWhen you pray to your ancestors/ or offer to deities, I actually see people doing that too. and that's what they told me not to do too.Posted By: xLadYzStaRx™how about this old wive's tale. they say when u eat you don't stick the chopsticks upright in your rice as it's either offering to the gods or the ghost will eat your food. thank god i use chopsticks to eat noodles not ricecorrection, chopsticks in the bowl is for deceased/ ghosts only... deities & all in that category no need chopsticks liao

Posted By: Heavenly Codshall i sell HC saliva?ROFL HC, nt unless u're the greatly sought after monk from nakhon rachasima - longpor-khun. its been touted that his saliva & sputum have rich powers, and he performs heealing/blessings by spitting on his devotees/followers. i once read an article that he casually spits on the ground, and the followers (i'd prefer them as fanatics) all rush to the ground hustling to have a taste of it.

ps: but i shower
Posted By: sc leongno sharkfin for me, they are highly endangered...mmm...actually I should all be eating more veg and fruits...cut down on all meats.truth be told, the sharks they cut up for the fins are not endangered lah. in fact, the entire shark is being properly utilized, for their cartilages eventually r processed for glucosamin essense, their skin used for leathergoods.
Posted By: Ratatouillei try not to eat sharks fins... i rather see sharks when i go diving.reef sharks is not too bad, they're fun to pet & feed.... but good luck to u, when u encounter the bronze whaler or the great white while diving...
Posted By: sc leongcaniggia, from what I know there's is a major decline in shark population and alot of illegal killing of sharks with wastage (just havesting for fins)major decline in shark population is all thanks to the climate changes, affecting fish migrations. hence there's less feeding ground for the endangered species in the shark family tree. which is also causing the increase in shark attacks off the pacific coasts in down under australia.
mmm..will try to look for some updated info and link it up here...(i hope that u r right)...anyway...shark fin has minimum nutritional factors mostly taken for maintaining cultural lifestyle, more of a status food.
well i can do without it, i'm just a kampong boy, not atas...hahahaha....hey u and rata to hook up and do a diving trip...i have not dive in years!!!!
Posted By: Blues Almighty2 and 3 are proven!bt i saw in the televised documentary 'truth abt food'... the so called aphrodisiac was proven to be a myth... none of the foods worked altered the participants pulses.
for 2, it is because what you emit is essentially what is digested.
for 3, it was shown in some exhibition lah (:
Posted By: Blues Almightyhaha i dunnoe leh. caniggia do your own experiment and tell us!erm, maybe its a psychological thing more than anything else... cos when i take oyster or cockles, i tend to believe that i'm more MAN than i usually am... LOL... ladies here wanna participate in my lil (s)experiment? ROFL
Posted By: hygiene 1. they say banana & papaya consumption facilitates movements in the intestines...truecoz of their water content, aid smoother transition along the coloni think there's some properties in banana & papaya that triggers intestine activities far better than other fruits
Posted By: hygiene 2. they say an apple a day keeps the doctor away...truefruits r gd for health coz they r rich in vitamins n minerals n have high water content to hydrate the body cellsif that's the case, then they should rephrase the myth to "a guava a day keeps the doctor away" - cos guava apparently ranks highest for vit-C content
Posted By: hygiene 3. they say mangosteen neutralizes the heatiness, especially after durian...true mangosteen is cooling, wow, i never knew that. that's a good 1
Posted By: hygiene 4. they say drinking water from the durian shell subdues the heatiness ... drinking water cools the bodyic, so i guess perhaps next time should just have durian, and standby "chinese perrier" (bai hua she cao shui) on the side
5. they say washing hands from running water from durian shell irredicates the odor... water helps, but durian shell not necessary n doesnt make sense
dunno if there's any truth in it...
Posted By: caniggiai've heard some old folks say, extensive consumption of "cooling" foods will lead to complications of health, may lead to asthma & even impotence....dunno if there's any truth in it...
Posted By: crunchychoconut~my mother always says that eating kangkong makes ur legs wobbly. is it true?hmmm, they say excessive intake of kangkong or coconut causes weak legs, bt so far, i've not encountered any of those symptoms..... well, maybe my intake hasnt reach the " excessive" level yet.
Posted By: Blues Almightymy dad says excess coke gives weak legs too!hmm...i drink a can everyday
Posted By: Jon Wanmaybe the reason for weak legs is due to oversized belly + obesity? (refer to the high obesity population in many western countries...)Posted By: Blues Almightymy dad says excess coke gives weak legs too!hmm...i drink a can everyday
