geez rata.... some sub-standard asian food while in the states, and getting to taste glutinous rice in the flight, is definately tear jerking. can totally empathize your situation. i too had some memoirs of my own, having spent time in sweden & denmark stuffing myself with bread, and finally getting to taste thai fragrance rice on the flight back.... that sensation (as mastercard says: priceless)

I also have some war stories to share.....when I was in the UK, I was so deprived of hawker fare that when I finally succumbed and went to the one place that I know serves really sucky Malaysian/Singaporean food at UK prices (i.e. $15-20 for one bowl of "laksa"), I almost cried when I ate that bowl of watery, unlaksa "Laksa"!!! It tasted so good and so shiock........

Today when I think back, I cry again when I remember I was willing to pay $15-20 for that *&^%$#@!!!!! bowl of laksa!

lucky for me, down under wasnt all that bad, considering alota asians do thrive there. so i had the luxury of checking out all the viet/ thai/ indon/ taiwanese/ hongkong/ korean/ jap makan joints. the only sickening thing about the food authorities is that, they forbid cockles. so at the end of the day, the laksa wasnt all that satisfactory.

but now that i'm back here, i really miss their fish steaks + fish & chips. i miss my daily dosage of fresh (non-pastuerized) milk, and super fresh fruits... i miss the fragrance when i walk into their green grocers..........

i think its still quite different compared to the dairy farms there. maybe its the result of different kinda grass they graze on.

actually, the only limousines i've ever set in can be counted with 1 hand, n they're only during weddings.

1st encouter: 1980's, i set in a rolls royce, cos i was appointed the door opener for the bride, and was later asked to sit in the limou, follow the couple to botanic gardens for photo taking

2nd encouter: 1990's, was appointed usher for my fren's church wedding, the bride was delivered to the church in stretched Holden limousine.

3rd encounter: 2004, biz trip to sweden, took a limousine cab to the HQ for meeting (cabfare, who cares! on company's expense)

all in all, i think food is prohibited on limousine/cabs

erm,. i think drinfting off topic liao............. so how now brown cow? anymore airline/ cruise/ limou food to share?

actually, as said, limou is just a more atas version of a cab. the only difference is the charges. the former charges by the hour or day, while the latter charges by the mileage + ERP + peak hr (if applicable)

just returned from my biz trip via singapore airlines. well, i guess my choice of seating offered me plenty of privacy, n nt much interuptions.... bt sadly, there wasnt much choice left when food was to be served. i must say, the food on board was pretty good, though its noticeable that the cabin crew seemed a lil too casual in their gestures.

cant really recall how they named the food, bt i was served rice for both to & return flights. suppose the oriental touch to it, was in lieu of the destination & embarkation. no regrets, least i can be certain n rejoice on the very pleasent journey travelled without much inconveniences/ turbulence.

The coach services prepacked bee hoon can be quite bad unfortunately.

I generally love SIA's food though.

If you fly frequently and tire of the same old meals, one handy trick is to order a special meal. I ordered a Hindu meal on the way up from Sydney, wow the chicken korma dinner was good. But the pakoras for the second meal were hopeless.
