    Hey everybody!

Thank you so much for your support in this forum in the last 3 months, we are thinking of doing a forum revamp to make this place even more useful and interactive for everyone.

Over the next month, we are seeking everyone's views (including our guests coming into the forum for the first time) on how to improve the forum and the things they would like to see in the revamp.

The HungryGoWhere team is constantly seeking to improve every aspect of HungryGoWhere and the forum would be up next. So do give us your frank comments (in your opinion) on how to take this forum another level up - we will seriously take every opinion into consideration when we embark on the revamp.

    So please fire away! :cheer:

actually, need nt necessarily b like v-bulletin style... this current appearance is alot neater & easier on the eyes. bt i suppose it'd be good to: sort the threads into more detailed categories/sections, so its easier for ppl to follow or find postings/ threads.

I think for a start, unless it's a query pertaining to the previous post(s), or for mirth, the moderators should take away unnecessary comments or snide remarks directed to individual members. If you have nothing useful to say that adds to the content of the thread, then don't.

The forum is in dire need of revamp. please act fast. thanks!

I disagree. Forums are by nature participative and when you open the windows, you must also let in the flies.

Every forum has disagreements among participants. The best way for to resolve this is usually to let it run its course for a while and see if it resolves itself. Moderators should desist from an overt policy of editing and sanitising all content, for it is neither desirable as a way to encourage participation, nor sustainable when participation becomes intense. Editing action should be a last resort, not a first resort - for otherwise you will kill participation.

I understand what you are trying to get at. But this is a food forum, and IMO, I think 80% of the content isn't even food related. You will understand what I mean if you venture out of this forum into others.

How about a daily digest where all the new messages after the user's own is sent to his/her email?
Of course, let the user have the option to opt out of certain threads that are just for chit chat.

if the forum is rigid, participation will be limited. If that is the direction the forum dictates it to be...then it may be vulnerable to obscurity

I mean that this is a food forum primarily. But comments/ discussions are veering in the wrong direction.
    •
      CommentAuthorcaniggia (CommentTimeJun 18th 2008)

basically, a forum is a forum... its open to all kinds/genres of discussions. if ppl want info on food, they've got the homepage to visit. if ppl have some issues to discuss pertaining to food... plenty of rm for discussion in the forum.

bt i noticed that once the threadstarter gets watever info/opinions/feedback that he/she wants, the thread eventually goes silent/dead.

while, some of the threads nt concerning food still tend to have some life. reason being?? foodies dont live to eat.

erm no one seems to be answering my concerns here...and I don't know where to put this but it seems that HGW is coming a platform for reviewers to rant about their horrifying experience at a restaurant. One time review period. How is this dealt with? been reading reviews aplenty which are like these.

maybe u might wanna consider rephrasing your questions, perhaps if it was more secular, more ppl can chip in to answer your qn.

As a leading authority on what makes a successful forum, SSP's valuable opinions are as follows:-

    (a) This forum needs to be majorly sexed-up! Sex and Shit sell, so more of it, please.

    (b) This is a foodies forum, not food forum. Food-only forums are screwed from Day One. As the saying goes, you can't eat all day and not shit!

    (c) More trashy threads. The trashier the threads, the sexier it gets.

    (d) No kontrol please. Enough of that in SG already.

The members make the forum and not vice-versa. If the forum is filled with sterile dettol-ed dim-witters, then the forum is dead.

To revamp or not to revamp is thus not the key. SSP's expert view is: LEAVE THE DAMN FORUM ALONE!

Now, will the real fire-starters PLEASE STAND UP PLEASE STAND UP!!!

:shamed: could u look into having the option to remove the discussion topic once it's over?
    •
      CommentAuthormacadamia^n (CommentTimeAug 14th 2008)

for discussions on places to eat mayb its unecessary to remove as im sure there are sum people who would want to check it out but i agree on deleting those that are not relevant
