What's a die die must try specialty in Hong Kong whenever u roam the streets for a holiday?

It'll be good if u can write in the restaurant name and address!

The only food i remember eating in HK is the KFC egg tarts. It sounds ridiculous since KFC is a global franchise. Tt's why i need all of u foodies help as i might be holidaying there soon! :surfing:

Pubs and bars are all over the world but there are still ppl who check them out when overseas. Reason being, its still slightly different. The difference is made up of the ppl and the area in general. For all u know, there may really be a pub/bar that SG doesnt have.

In a nutshell, just go eat the dim sum, noodles, dessert and of cos shop (not the big S.C. - exp...but the streets for bargains)
Dim sum, best tried by reallly going to a cha2 lou2 (tea house) early early in the morning and chope a table. Den experience the 'flying' cutlery, hustle and bustle of harried wait staff moving ard serving dim sum and of cos to eat the food and wash down with tea.
Drink yuan-yang/lai-cha. Go to a cha2 can1 ting1. Also, there is this ji1 dan4 zai3 (pls pronounce in canto - gai1 dan3 zai2, else i not sure if anyone will know wat are u tokking abt) that is a must try (my boss highly recommend, a reminder of her childhood)
    Den buy lao3 po2 bing3 back.

Bargains on the streets? I ain't ever seen any in my 3 months living in HK, not even when I walked all over HK, Kowloon and NT. The stuff on the streets I found were hopeless such as clothing that can't even match either price nor quality to those I got in Thailand...

My point is that inferior goods aren't bargains. Although I can find bargains in virtually any developing country that I go to, the street goods in HK are so low grade that even a cheapskate like me didn't pick up any. That's when I understood the wisdom of the sellers in Thailand who kept saying that their clothing are good stuff made in Thailand, not China.

How I wish. After eating out for 3 meals a day every day, I must have eaten at many places cheap and dear, from Shek-O to Aberdeen to North Point to Gold Coast to Sai Kung to Lamma Island to Cheung Chau to Sheung Wan to Kowloon City (the old airport area).

Notwithstanding that experience, I'm still hard-pressed to name you 10 good places to eat in HK. Perhaps RHKYC, Yung Kee, Le Tire Bouchon, Bebek Bengil 3, Chilli Club, Che's, Moon Kee (Honeymoon Desserts), Yat Tung Heen, Java Road Food Centre Seafood. That's why you don't see me writing about HK eateries in HGW HK.

It'll take a lot of serious pushing to make me go back to HK ever, with the pollution, extortionate costs, living conditions...

i went to HK last Sept. Roughly my itinerary was:

    - stayed at Stanford Hillview Tsim Sha Chui
    - hit Temple Street area for dinner - sar por fan, roadside eats such as oyster ommelete, yu dan zhu jap, jiao yim lai niu har (some kind of shrimps fried in salt and pepper)
    - went to Mongkok to look for Chou Tou Fu but din find it.
    - ate Ji Dan Zai (some kind of waffle)
    - dun forget the wanton mee!
    - had dim sum at one of the restaurants. there were alot of old uncles and aunties earlier than us even though we went there early at 830am
    - roast goose and pigeon at Yung Kee (www.yungkee.com.hk)
    - went up to the PEAK for a great night scene of HK (try the Bubba Gump restaurant and the gelato shop outside the tram station!)
    - clubbed at LKF (some places offer free flow of drinks for 200HK per pax)
    - ate egg white egg tart, portugese egg tarts at Macau
    - swam.. i mean took a ferry to Macau
    - ate the famous pork chop bun, went to the St Paul's ruins, gambled and lost HK$400 at Grand Lisboa
    - went to Ocean Park, played the funfair games, ride the rollercoaster
    - never forget the drink Lai Char, Yun Yoong and Por Lor Pao (make sure u add a slab of butter on it!)
    - dun miss shopping at the Element (they have great bakery and pastries there, and a cupcake boutique!)

it was sad coming back.. i cried :cry:.....
