CHEAP IS NEVER GOOD and GOOD IS NEVER CHEAP!

SSP, since that's the case, then i'd recommend u to take breath mints... cos they're cheap/affordable. at least breath mints keeps your breath fresh... eating crap will only make your mouth stink, n will be an added disadvantage to your appeal w the ladies. :rolling:

swissbake @ harbourfront centre (1st floor) often sells cheesecake at 2 slices for $4. the cheese is really smooth n tasty! go try! :)

Haha! I know abt the le meridian food court korean food. Had the hotplate chix there. Supposedly their hotplate dishes will not result in the consumers being covered with bbq smell on clothes and hair. Dunno how true cos I din specifically smell myself after eating..eww

Don't believe in cheap and good.

Coz the food may look good, even tasted good, BUT it may not be necessary good for us.
Food of good and decent quality do not come cheap. Just ask your mum, grandma and aunties.

Cheap quality can taste excellent when "creative methods / ways" are employed.

Cloudgal is right - ta pao food from home is the best - cheap and good indeed ; )

cheap n good??? how about consuming adequate portions for a balanced diet n drinking plain water?

1 x bowl of beancurd + soy bean milk combo (protein)
    1 x apple/ pear/ persimon... or 1 x portion of fruit (vitamins & fibres)
1 x stalk of celery/ raw carrot (fibres & vitamins)
1 x portion of plain rice doused with soy sauce (carbo & sodium)
2 x liter of plain water (fluids)

if bored of plain rice + soy sauce... can also explore kosong prata for a change.

i guess all in all should b able to cut back on expenditure.

some of the combo for plain rice that i can ever imagine:

    plain rice with...
    1. shredded seaweed + sesame seed toppings
    2. sesame seed oil
    3. chicken rice chilli
    4. nasi lemak chilli
    5. chinchalok
    6. salted/ sweetened peanuts
    7. melted cheese (think kraft/ chesdale/ laughin cow)
    8. deep fried shallots
    9. ikan bilis
    10. stock/broth

i think a month long survivor series of the above listed... can qualify to participate for reality game show: survivor singapore.

plain rice with stock/broth OR chicken rice chilli (esp hm made ones) is great!

or eat with the japanese seasoning (cant really rem the name but was recommended to sprinkle on the rice whilst in japan...
    •
      CommentAuthorcaniggia (CommentTimeJul 2nd 2008)

i think that sprinkle is actually a kinda fish sauce. or if not, then perhaps u're refering to some kinda seasoning - composite of ground spices/herbs.

mmm given the current economic situation (gonna get worse, SG possibly into a technical recession with the upcoming 3rd quarter economic report), its time to look back at this thread.

So ppl, suggest away for places/stalls that can help in tightening the belt (besides eating at home more). Any savings will help go a long way with the southward bound markets now. :)

food at ntu and nus! some are really quite good and cheap. like the jap at science canteen and western at biz side of nus. haaaa but you have to squeeze with the student crowds la.

the bugis market also got quite a few stalls that sell like mix-veg and minced meat noodles for 2 bucks only. sorry cant recall stalls names offhand but i'm sure can tell from queues  its currently under renovation, temp near one of the mrt exits.

Used to hv great char kway teow, cheap and v generous with the ham (can dictate level of doneness somemore) at canteen A but the auntie gave up when i was in my 2nd yr. Even tho v gd business. Her stall always super long q. $1.50 worth can feed 2 ladies, prob equivalent of 2 to 3 plates of the regular portioned char kway teow outside.
