my choice... nothing but holland. dutch football has always been formidable, except for their record of misfortune to end up in the group of deaths for the past 8yrs running. for them to humble the undeserving world champs... i think the dutch is a force to be reckoned with... this time round.

    hup holland hup~!!

yup, indonesian channel telecast is a good snatch, n its few seconds faster that the scripted cable channles. there's also hear say that channel 5 would be airing the matches for semi-finals onwards. so i guess nt really necessary to subscribe anyways.

meanwhile, holland hasnt disappointed me thus far.
silenced the world champ italy, 3-0
silenced the ex world champ france, 4-1
2 wins in 2 games already secured their entry into the quarter finals.

    dutch football~!~! hup holland hup~!!

i think the stretch along prinsep st has plenty of pubs that offer live footgage of the euro matches. can also try your luck at mhd sultan stretch. if nt mistaken, i think there should also be some joints near orchard hotel/towers screening the games live.

    :bigsmile:Turkey will be champion

my guess for the final 8 would be....

    por vs ger
    tur vs cro
    ned vs swe
    rom vs spa

i speculate those in bold would likely go thru to semi-finals

n i speculate it'd be holland vs portugal finals.

BA: tot u wanna hv a gathering to watch soccer tog? :P
mmm...miss the times when I watched soccer with frens at pubs/lounges during the previous World Cup. Not tt i know a lot abt the game but quite shiok/fun when everyone (entire pub/lounge) groan or go 'GOAL' tog. Alsp ,not forgetting special offers from certain places for the match watching...when I was at liquid kitchen, they had this offer of 1 free beer per goal scored during the match. And e matches we were watching had a lot of goals, so my frens ordered like crazy...:p

Can always try to find a Saturday night match la.
I sure will not want a Sunday to Friday match slot. So far, matches will primarily be at 245am, which means will end ard 415am. I am not that crazy to give up sleep on a work night just for a match.

well, sometimes its the funny things ppl do, for the luv of the game. the angmo can quit their jobs, or go on no pay leave just to root their teams live a the host countries, n to think that the tickets arent cheat too. whilst many hardcore fans here would do almost anything nt to miss the all important matches, while sweating n bleeding for the teams they support.

ie; i deliberately woke up in the wee hrs just to witness holland tear the world champs italy into minced meat on their group opening game. while i had to conquer 10 football stadium sized halls at a convention the following morning. well, if its anything... i'd say the victory over italy, compared to my sleep was priceless... heehe

germany's booked their spot in the quarter finals.
tonight croatia vs turkey... turkey have been the come-back kids, underdogs i'd say.

tmr, holland vs russia... can the orange steam-rollers continue flattening every opponent in their path, or have they run outta steam?

sunday, spain vs italy. perhaps the tenacity of the dynamic spainards could silence the ageing italians ( team avg age: 30yrs), or would the veterans silence the spanish boys??

wah, really really busy these days.....but i so needed to log in just to say that.....

I'm not a Croatia supporter, but I think that based on their versatile playing formation, teamwork and stamina, they do have what it takes to go all the way....and heh heh, I have been saying this before the tournament started cos I saw how they destroyed England at Wembley.....the coach Slaven Bilic is also someone who can really motivate his boys......

Lets see what happens tonight when they play Turkey!

If they beat Turkey, the next game is going to be real interesting - Croatia vs Germany!

And if they beat Germany, the final is going to be even more interesting - Croatia vs Netherlands! (I think Holland is really on fire too)

damn........... it must've been a long n tiring game, n a killer for any who stayed up to witness turkey pull thru. Croatia 1-1 Turkey (aet, Turkey win 3-1 on pens). the turks have been pulling the rabbit outta the hat more often than expected. truly the dark horse/ come back kids in the making.

no punter in the right frame of mind would've expected them to be tied for 90mins, needless to say remain level at 1 a piece thruout extra time as well. i can definately empathize/identify with the ones ousted in the PK shootout. gotta admit, its really a bitter pill to swallow.

another disappointing draw between the dutch n the russians during regular playtime, they had to stretch it out in extra time, n i guess hiddink once again has proven to be a maestro where it comes to mind games. the russians pulled the plug on the dutch... 2 more goals during extra time to make it 3-1.

so now, its either spain or italy who'd b facing off russia next.

i wonder if the turks will do well against the germans for the semis though. cos i think the germans r starting to pick up steam n momentum.
