Chef Jean-Charles Dubois offers a decadent menu ($91.26 per person) for the occasion: choose your starter from a trio of options - a lobster bisque with sautéed organic mini black Qwehli prawns (cultivated in Mozambique), a foie gras terrine with petit salad of chickpea and a Saint Jacques (scallop) carpaccio. A SEVEN-COURSE ITALIAN MOTHER'S DAY FEAST | Rolling out its new spring set menu ($149.76 per person) just in time for Mother's Day is Buona Terra (Tel: 67330209). Chef Denis’ seven-course meal includes gems like the crisped slow-cooked veal tongue with spring salad, homemade tagliolini with red prawns and leek cream, and the smoked Wagyu steak with fresh asparagus and black truffle. MOTHER'S DAY AFTERNOON TEA | Sit back, relax and watch the world go by with a cup of tea in hand at Cafe Mosaic (Tel: 63118195). The Mother’s Day weekend high tea buffet ($55 per adult; $27.50 per child aged 9 to 12) pairs tea with an assortment of choice seafood and appetisers. LOCAL FARE DONE WELL | Known for its Straits Chinese flavours, Ellenborough Market Cafe (Tel:62391848) enhances their buffet menu (lunch $60.84 per person; dinner $67.86 per person) for Mother’s Day weekend: there will be a luxurious abalone fried rice, in addition to their signature durian pengat. Other local and Peranakan specialties will also be available: to name a few - oyster omelette, Penang fried kway teow, ayam buah keluak (chicken in black nut sauce) and babi pongteh (braised pork with salted bean paste). A MULTI-COURSE CANTONESE SPREAD | Traditional Cantonese dining with a contemporary twist is what Hai Tien Lo's (Tel: 68268240) Mother’s Day set menu ($126.36 per person) is all about. The food is nourishing, and just look at the view you'll get. The multi-course menu features double-boiled chicken soup with cordyceps flowers, braised abalone with sea treasures in supreme chicken stock, and chilled mango pudding with Imperial swiftlet's bird's nest. CANTONESE GOODNESS AND COMPLIMENTARY WINE | Hua Ting (Tel: 67396666) pays tribute to moms with a special menu that is ideal for dining in groups. Prices begin at $788 for eight persons. Designed by masterchef Lap Fai, the Cantonese menu features a braised, whole, South African abalone (four heads and $36 per piece) and air-flown fillets of Kobe beef ($42 per person) among others. Offering the Imperial Chinese Banquet, the feast comes in the form of a six-course ($196.56 for two persons) and eight-course ($851.76 for eight or more persons) menus. The former has dishes like the lobster salad with caviar and crispy roast duck, while the latter impresses with the steamed red grouper Teochew-style and double boiled ginseng soup with tang yuan (glutinous rice balls).
