Chef Jean-Charles Dubois offers a decadent menu ($91.26 per person) for the occasion: choose your starter from a trio of options - a lobster bisque with sautéed organic mini black Qwehli prawns (cultivated in Mozambique), a foie gras terrine with petit salad of chickpea and a Saint Jacques (scallop) carpaccio. For mains, the highlight is the signature 48-hour braised Wagyu beef cheeks. End on a sweet note with the Maman (French for "Mummy") dessert platter. Available on 12 May for lunch and dinner.
A SEVEN-COURSE ITALIAN MOTHER'S DAY FEAST | Rolling out its new spring set menu ($149.76 per person) just in time for Mother's Day is Buona Terra (Tel: 67330209). Chef Denis’ seven-course meal includes gems like the crisped slow-cooked veal tongue with spring salad, homemade tagliolini with red prawns and leek cream, and the smoked Wagyu steak with fresh asparagus and black truffle. Hushed ambience aside, the in-house sommelier ups the ante with premium Italian wines. Available until 31st May for dinner only.
MOTHER'S DAY AFTERNOON TEA | Sit back, relax and watch the world go by with a cup of tea in hand at Cafe Mosaic (Tel: 63118195). The Mother’s Day weekend high tea buffet ($55 per adult; $27.50 per child aged 9 to 12) pairs tea with an assortment of choice seafood and appetisers. From Pacific clams with wafu dressing (Japanese-style soy sauce vinaigrette) to fresh oysters and sashimi. For desserts pick from French pastries to Nyonya kuehs. Available on 11 and 12 May.
A SEVEN-COURSE ORIENTAL SPREAD | Shower some lavish love by treating the mom to a splendid seven-course dinner at Cherry Garden (Tel: 68853500). The restaurant's charcoal teak panels and slate floors set the mood for the oriental decadence to come: the Kindness set dinner ($138 per person) includes a zucchini with sea treasures soup, bird’s nest and silver sprouts and a crisp-skinned roast chicken. LOCAL FARE DONE WELL | Known for its Straits Chinese flavours, Ellenborough Market Cafe (Tel:62391848) enhances their buffet menu (lunch $60.84 per person; dinner $67.86 per person) for Mother’s Day weekend: there will be a luxurious abalone fried rice, in addition to their signature durian pengat. Other local and Peranakan specialties will also be available: to name a few - oyster omelette, Penang fried kway teow, ayam buah keluak (chicken in black nut sauce) and babi pongteh (braised pork with salted bean paste). A MULTI-COURSE CANTONESE SPREAD | Traditional Cantonese dining with a contemporary twist is what Hai Tien Lo's (Tel: 68268240) Mother’s Day set menu ($126.36 per person) is all about. The food is nourishing, and just look at the view you'll get. The multi-course menu features double-boiled chicken soup with cordyceps flowers, braised abalone with sea treasures in supreme chicken stock, and chilled mango pudding with Imperial swiftlet's bird's nest. CANTONESE GOODNESS AND COMPLIMENTARY WINE | Hua Ting (Tel: 67396666) pays tribute to moms with a special menu that is ideal for dining in groups. Prices begin at $788 for eight persons. Designed by masterchef Lap Fai, the Cantonese menu features a braised, whole, South African abalone (four heads and $36 per piece) and air-flown fillets of Kobe beef ($42 per person) among others. Dine in groups of six and more and get a complimentary bottle of wine. Available until 31 May.
BOOK A TABLE | MORE THAN JUST STEAK | Celebrate in style (with a hearty brunch) within the plush and serene confines of Lawry’s The Prime Rib (Tel: 68363333). Executive chef Nick Lee has created a four-course weekend brunch set ($91.26 per person): start with their famous spinning bowl of salad and then get a duo of oysters. From the mains, it's a hard choice between the Nova Scotia Atlantic lobster with a pancake stack and the Hungarian foie gras pizza. End with a dessert sampler and tea or coffee. EXCLUSIVE FINE DINE MENU FOR MOM | For something truly exclusive for mom's special day, take her to Les Amis (Tel: 67332225). For the first time ever, Les Amis celebrates Mother's Day with a one-day only menu by executive chef Galvin Lim. The menu includes crispy fried kinmedai(sea bream) with leek and potato, the free range Japanese egg confit and the baby king mushroom and agria potato fried in goose fat. MOTHER'S DAY POP-UP DINING | Styled to emit oriental opulence is the pop-up restaurant at Hotel Fort Canning (Tel: 65596760), back again just in time for moms' special day. Offering the Imperial Chinese Banquet, the feast comes in the form of a six-course ($196.56 for two persons) and eight-course ($851.76 for eight or more persons) menus. The former has dishes like the lobster salad with caviar and crispy roast duck, while the latter impresses with the steamed red grouper Teochew-style and double boiled ginseng soup with tang yuan (glutinous rice balls). A LEISURELY HIGH TEA AND FREE GIFTS | Spend a leisurely afternoon with mom in one of the cushy armchairs at Rose Veranda (Tel: 62134486) at the Shangri-La. Its high tea spread ($36 per person) features select international and local delights, such as braised bamboo shoots with fresh mushrooms, siew mai, har gao and an extensive dessert section. Salt Grill & Sky Bar (Tel: 65925118) is rolling out a special Sunday roast lunch ($76 per person for two courses; $99.45 per person for three courses) for Mother's Day. Start off with the tempura prawns or Salt’s ‘glass’ Sydney crab omelette, then choose from among the hearty Australian mains of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and red wine sauce or the roast pork loin with crackling and apple sauce. If you’re there for the dinner buffet ($79.56 per person) make a beeline for the wok-fried blue crab with salted egg and the live sashimi station. A THREE-COURSE STEAK DINNER | Morton's The Steakhouse's (Tel: 63393740) Mother's Day menu ($80.73 per person) features several signature dishes and age-old Morton's favourites. CAKE THAT WILL BE GOOD FOR MOM | Only for Mother’s Day, Cedele has created a strawberry rose cake ($48.80 whole, $6.50 per slice) that combines dragon fruit with strawberry cream. This is no ordinary dessert - it is high in both vitamin C and fibre, and is even healthier because of the grapeseed oil and organic unrefined sugar used.
