Yummy!

Its been awhile since my last review.

I was with my family wondering where i can find a quieter place for dinner around Thomson area, suddenly i recalled this cafe near Thomson Plaza which i never had a chance to try!

Once i reached the place, there were only 3 tables, inclusive of us, dining at around 7.30pm on a Thursday. The waitress (which i suspect is the boss) was great, cos when i wanted to order more, she reminded me that i have over-ordered, hehe.. I also asked for a recommendation for a bottle of dark beer.

1. Buckwheat noodle: Nice
2. Fish and chips: Crispy on the outside, fish was nice!
3. Chicken schnitzel: Crispy on the outside, meat was tender, nice!
4. Dark beer: I dont recall the brand but it was nice and fruity!

The ambience has got the 'homely' feel, service and food was great!

By the time we were about to leave at around 8.30pm, the place was almost full! Wow!

Must Tries: Fish & Chips, chicken schnitzel

Brunch at Little Part 1

i was looking for hidden cafes on the internet and found out about this cosy place that is tucked in a row of shophouses, somewhere beside thomson plaza. the first time i went, was on a tuesday and it was closed. the second time i went, on a weekday, around 4pm and it was close again.

after checking out their operating hours, i finally had the chance to dine in with my younger brother for brunch on a saturday afternoon. the decorations in the cafe are interesting. i personally liked the photo frames up on the wall.

anyway, our orders are: curried fries($4.90), little's fish 'n' chips($12.90), natto nori handroll($2.90) and kiwi wheatgrass sorbetto($4.50). the food was satisfying. i am a fan of natto, so i will definitely go back to try the natto salad and natto tofu.

Must Tries: curried fries, mashed potatoes

Dinner at Little Part 1

Ordered

Fish Lieste
Little Crappe Crepe
Classic Italiano Crepe
Green tea blend (cant remember the actual name)

What I really liked

The ambience
the quiet evening feel with soft music
The nice sunset through its glass windows if you take a seat near the window
there is an alfresco area at the park but it overlooks thomson plaza
the interior deco with nice travel books and photos on the wall

the food

The crepes were pretty decent, portions were sufficent. You would hope that the crabmeat would be chunkier rather than pasty and the crepe be crispier around the ages.
The wasabi mayo that accompanied the fish leiste pack a punch by my standard.
The food wasn't too outstanding but it was decent enough for dinner.
The taste could have been affected though by my poor tastebuds due to the flu.

Overall

A nice place for quiet dinners if you get in early. Definitely cosy place to just read and relax.

The sofa set could be adjusted to another place as seems like a strange position overlooking everyone in the restaurant, like a voyeur peepshow.

Hidden find…but unexciting food

1 May 2008 : The Happi Family members were ready to eat after our Movie Marathon. This was my suggestion.

We ordered :
Shepherd's Pie ($11.90)
Little's Crabbe Crepe ($11.90)
Classic Italiano-Crepe ($9.90)
Little's Fish & Chips x 2 ($12.90 each)
Bratwurst Brat ($14.90)
Spicy Buffalo Wings ($6.50)
Avocado / Nato Nori Handroll ($2.90)
Lychee Sorbetto Soda ($4.50)
Lime Sorbetto Soda ($4.50)
Hawaii Cocktail Fruit Tea ($4.00)
TOTAL = $97.20

SLIDE SHOW

I liked the Spicy Buffalo Wings very much. It was tasty and spicy.
My Bratwurst Brat was really good. The greens were very sweet and the mashed potato with bits of corn embedded inside went down very well. The Sausages were great too.

The highlight of my meal was the Lime Sorbetto Soda. I liked it very much. The Lime Sorbetto was sour and i really liked it.
I tried alittle of RL's Lychee Sorbetto and it was nice. But it did not make me exceedingly happy.

I do not think i will return.. mainly because I'm not particularly attracted to the food here... except for the Lime Sorbetto Soda.

Must Tries: Bratwurst Brat, Buffalo Wings, Lime Sorbetto Soda

Cosy ambience and I left feeling very full

Thursday (1 May 08). Had dinner here with JC, AC, NS, QQ and CP. We ordered:
Shepherd's Pie $11.90
Bratwurst Brat $14.90

2x Little's Fish & Chips $12.90 each
Littles Crabbe Crepe $11.90
Classic Italiano Crepe $9.90
Spicy Buffalo Wings $6.50
Avocado / Nato Nori Handroll $2.90
Lychee Sorbetto Soda $4.50
Lime Sorbetto Soda $4.50
Hawaii Cocktail Fruit Tea $4.00

For starters, we shared the Spicy Buffalo Wings. Boy was it potent! If you were to bring your nose close to the wings and give it a sniff, you'd definitely end up choking on the potent aroma. Good for some, and maybe not good for some too. The wings were not actually very spicy but most of its 'oomph' came from its aroma. I had to be careful not to breathe while having the chicken in my mouth for fear of the spicy aroma tickling my windpipe and resulting in me coughing out the chicken. Overall, to me, the wings were nice but would have been more enjoyable if the seasoning was less overpowering.

We were each provided with a small side plates to eat our starter. I really liked the plate very much because it is so old skool.

For my main course, I had the Little's Fish & Chips. It was a really decent-sized portion. It came with salad and fries. The salad tasted sweet while the fries were nice. The breaded fish was nice and crispy with herb seasoning. I did find the seasoning too strong and consequently could not taste the fish at all.

I tried the Lychee Sorbetto Soda and the Lime Sorbetto Soda. Both were nice, but I preferred the Lychee to the Lime.

Atmosphere here is nice and cosy.

Service was attentive and cold water is served free of charge.
