I visited Coastes twice during the weekend. It's never too crowded and rowdy. The ambience is perfect for a chillout by the beach, soaking up the sun and getting a tan.

To top it all, the food was fantastic. I tried two of their sausages items on Saturday while I had beef burger and fish & chips on Sunday. Both the sausages items cost $14 each. They are definitely worth trying. The portion was filling and very, very tasty. For the beer burger, you can also opt for having bacon and an egg, which adds up to a total of $21 but it's worth your every cent.

The only disappointment was the fish & chips. It was a little too dried but maybe that's just me. They have a small list of beer to go along but prices start from $12, as expected from tourists' pricing.

You can rent a sunbed too. The single sunbed costs $15 each while a double sunbed costs $20 each. I rented the latter and enjoy the sunny skies for a whole day. It's not charged per hour so don't worry about it. Once you rent it, it's yours till you leave Coastes.

Overall, I'm definitely visiting Coastes again.

i have gone there a few times. this place is very nice if you wanna go sentosa on the weekend if you would like a nice place to get a tan. they have very nice laid backs and all you need to do is to pay $20 for renting it and you get 2 ice tea with it. there is nearly never crounded so you will always get a nice place.

i only go there on the weekends for the beds because i like "Cafe del Mars" better for chilling out but that might be just me. but the food here is marvelous. I always go here when i go to Sentosa because their food is good and not to pricey. their service is good as well.
when im here they always come fast with a smile to take your order or just help you with the beds.

Wanted to bring the kids for a morning outing and was deciding between the Bontanic Gardens or Sentosa. Finally decided on Sentosa as we could go for a swim, and Coastes was chosen as it serves breakfast by an enticing stretch of beach.

The beach and the sea in front of coastes was clean. In fact it may be cleaner than the lagoon near Rasa Sentosa and definitely clearer. But the seabed was steep, so non swimmers got to be a wee bit careful as the waves could be pretty strong. There were attractive beach lounge chairs painted a nautical blue-and-white just at the edge of the beach and it was meant for their customers only.

Order the American Breakfast ($20), a little pricey but the food was good. There were toasted crispy-on-the-outside-soft-in-the-inside baguette that wentvery well with the soft butter and tangy marmalade. There were also bacon, sausages, sauteed mushrooms, 2 sunnyside ups and baked beans. It also came with a choice of fruit juice and coffee or tea.

The service was also quite good and you could get one of the 'beach boys' to put up a beach umbrella umbrella for you if things got too hot under the collar.

It's definitely a great place for kids and dogs alike. My kids had a wonderful time playing in the sand while Mom and Pop enjoyed their breakfast while reading the papers

I have not gone back to Coastes since my 1st visit when they first opened until recently when I decided to meet some friends there.

I know that the pizzas here are supposed to be good but I decided against going with the flow & ordered a burger with the works instead to satiate my burger craving. My bf also opted out of the pizza bandwagon & chose the Fish & Chips. Our friends ordered the same main courses as us apart from one separate order of spaghetti so this review speaks for all of us.

The food didn't take particularly long to arrive although we were very tempted to order more things when the chicken wings arrived at the table next to us. Although they didn't have the famous ICB chicken wings on the menu, the grilled ones on the Coastes menu looked really good. Thankfully, we stayed the course & waited patiently for our own food to arrive. Maybe next time....

The Fish & Chips arrived 1st but we had to return one portion when we discovered a freebie on the fish - a strand of hair! It obviously didn't belong to the fish so we returned it, making sure that they fried up a new batch instead of simply removing the offending strand.

Apart from this little hiccup, the other orders were unscathed & the incident quickly forgotten. The food, while not spectacular, is good enough for me to go back again & again.

I love taking my dog to the beach altho she's still sooooo afraid of swimming in the sea.
Anyway, I've been there 3times already with my dog Sisi. I like it when they said not just 'we allow pets', they said 'we welcome pets'. I was frankly overjoyed especially after being rejected by Cafe del mar. What I received was 'dogs have to be off-the-bed all the time', I was like, DUH, ur lame beds are everywhere! What I have to sit on sand if I want to eat with Sisi!?
The food in Coastes is good. I won't say impressive but worthy; for quality and quantity.
Also, the thin pizzas are interesting even tho I'm not a pizza person, at all.
Sisi loves the benches and she gets more comfortable be near the sea now.
I'm very satisfied with its food and ambience.
    Lovely place.

This is a place to go on a romantic weekday night out (Don't like the sun).

Minus the entrance fee and carpark fee into sentosa, overall the experience was very enjoyable.

The place was pet friendly (+1) so I could bring my Buddy along. We shared a ICB Pizza, Ceasar Salad and Chicken wings. Drinks wise, he opted for a carslberg followed by a mojito and I tried their signature "freeze".

    Food:
Ceasar salad portion was huge! We had ordered a portion for two and got a huge bowl sitting in front of us. The manager saw our stunned looks and offered to change it to a smaller portion. That was a nice gesture of him as many places are just out to make money. Taste wise was quite normal. Prego's ceasar salad is still top of my list.

Chicken Wings came grilled and slightly charred. Which i loved! :)
The marinade was sweet and very appetising after a squeeze of lime.

The pizza was to die for! Fresh prawns topped on a thin crust and the right amount of cheese. You could eat the pizza like biscuits and hardly feel it till you've had too much.

    Drinks:
The "freeze" was a reddish drink and was made of peach, lime and blackcurrant (as stated on the menu). It was an interesting burst of flavours as the fragrances of peach, the tartness of lime and sweetness(?) of blackcurrant. Interesting mix which was very suitable for the beach.

The mojito was sweet, tangy and minty although i found it too harsh (alcoholic) on the first sip. When the ice had melted a bit more, the drink was just perfect.

We were lucky it was a breezy night as we sat till closing time (11pm??) watching ships parking in the sea upfront.

Overall, its a nice little hideout for weekdays rather than the hustle of the city area.

Sit under the stars and sip on a "freeze" while laying down on big matress-covered chair. Romantic!!!!

Must tries: ICB Pizza, Chicken Wings

I've eaten twice at Coastes, though it could have been many more times if not for its location in Sentosa (nothing wrong with that, just too troublesome and expensive to get there just for food, considering a $2 per head and $2 per car entry into Sentosa plus a $1 parking fee), and price (slightly overpriced, especially drinks, but hey it's on a beach in Sentosa, not one of the heartland malls). I must concede that the setting is very nice and idyllic (think beachfront with rustic deck chairs, it's quite hidden away although it's right by the busy touristy parts).

Twice, we had chicken wings and caesar salad only - first time coz a friend raves about the wings, and second time coz I was raving about the wings and had to get my parents to try them out. And of course wings are just wings, how orgasmic can they get? To be honest, I don't think they are like super fantastic, but they are really quite good in the sense that they are BBQ grilled (i could tell from the way there were unevenly charred, which adds to the robust flavor, but some people just hate that), on the large side (juicy and springy meat, not the fatty kind), well seasoned and glazed with honey. Apparently me and my friends dig them, but my mom thought otherwise, as she has never liked her meat sweet, even though they were just mildly so. So i figure it's really personal taste. But she did love Coastes' caesar salad, with its generous toppings of bacon bits and parmesan cheese on very fresh, crisp romaine. Though pretty expensive, the portions are generous, so don't believe what the menu says when it states salad for two -it really can feed four or more. We had a personal sized salad and it was just nice for three of us. We also noted the pizzas served to other guests, they looked good and we will surely try them on our next visit.

I had no problem with the price of food really, since portions were hearty and I am pretty used to eating at fancy places, but I thought the drinks could be a little cheaper. My frozen margarita was $14 and my dad's beer was $11, I think. Pretty steep for a beachfront, pay-first-at-counter type of restaurant, I'd say. To be fair, my margarita had a strong dosage of tequila, and was overflowing the good-sized glass.

Service-wise, it was pretty slow when we stepped in, as it had rained a little while just before we came, and we saw a couple of service staff busy wiping down the tables instead of attending to us. I caught one's attention by asking if we could sit at a particular table and all was well after that. However, the chairs were still wet, and we had to use our own supplies of napkins to wipe them dry. Well, it's beachfront, so I guess some moisture is OK. I had only one slight complaint about the attitude of the cashier who took my orders. While she wasn't rude or anything, she has this can't-be-bothered to smile and could-you-just-hurry-up-and-order attitude that made me feeling slightly less cheerful that evening. Thankfully, it was only a 2-min encounter.

To redeem that, the staff who cleared my table (I think he may be a supervisor, as he was dressed differently), was absolutely polite and friendly, and gladly helped me to doggy-bag my few remaining chicken wings. In fact, I wrote this review (my first, gosh!) mainly because he had been so nice to put in a new container or belacan chilli (a must-dip!) and a fresh lime. It was a pleasant surprise when I opened the box when I got home. Now, that is exceptional service that will bring me back to Coastes again, despite its price and location.

My girlfriend and I are frankly quite disappointed after visitng some of the places rated highly in "hungrygowhere.com". Perhaps the reviews are too few for some, and we were suspicious of the sources of the reviews (could be insiders). Can the administrators of hungrygowhere check that the reviews are real?

Coastes serves the 2nd best Pizza in Singapore. All the other Pizzerias rated highly in this site are not true! The reason that Coastes serves great Pizza is that they are wood fired. That makes the pizza crust really tasty! The cheese is in abundance.

Service is slow as mentioned by the other reviews. Sometimes, I get wrong orders. But the food is worth the wait!

Rated no. 1 pizza in Singapore is Spizza. Forget about the other pricey restaurants in S'pore!

BTW, I work in a Bank, so I'm not an insider, I guarantee you that!

    3. Tim G Refer to your comment about the sources of review. Grateful if you could let us know which pizzeria reviews in particular have inaccurate representations?

Would also be helpful if you could let us know which pizzas you recommend - whether at coastes or spizza.

      Thanks!
    4. ice He sounds like an insider from Coastes.
    5. Gaz Hahahaha!!
    6. Julie I think you have to be careful with Spizza - the food standards vary with the outlets. I have had awful pizzas at the outlet at Balmoral Plaza (so awful they bordered on being inedible), but the one at Club Street does serve up good pizzas.

Yeah, do let us know which other places have let you down. I personally think that Pepperonico has gone down. If I had to choose a pizza place, I would go to La Strada.
    7. Julie or La Nonna.
    8. Geoff Wang Hi "Tim G"

Can you trace my other review? It's my comments about the top 2 or 3 pizza place. I've also tried the fish and chips at Bedok North Avenue 2 and it was so-so only. But we rated it top for budget meals. In fact, the zhi char at the same coffee shop was superb but no one rated it. I've also tried the shepherd's pie at Bedok North, but it was only slightly above average only. It was rated quite highly.

I will find out retrieve those recommendations when I have time.

In fact, the comments that we should stop relying on hungrygowhere came from my girlfriend and colleagues, not me. I'm just concerned that some of the reviews are not objective.
    9. Geoff Wang Da Maria pizzeria. Now rated 7.4. I think the first few entries, I think posting no. 20 - 25 were advertisements. I can't believe how detailed the person "Andrea" was with the menu and she seems to know the chef so well that she called him by his first name...

I also tried the fish & chips in Takashimaya basement that was rated highly but found it rather normal. Overall, this website's recommendations were quite suspicious. I'm sorry to say. Perhaps the administrators can check on the sources before allowing such reviews to be posted?

as usual, i'm not quite a food critic so i shall just cut the long story short and give my best review possible.

    hee.

i dropped by on friday evening after a long week at work.

my friend and i ordered a plate of aglio oglio prawn spagghetti and a plate of mixed sausages.

the aglio oglio was really spicy so i gave up trying to enjoy it. the sausages were also quite blah. normal at best.

anyway the portions were really pathetic. that's my final verdict.

we both ordered "freeze" for our drinks coz i drove so i decided to give alcoholic drinks a pass. but we found out that it was 1-4-1 for margaritas on friday. so you might wanna try it. it's $15 for one. so that works out to 2 for $15 (not difficult mathematics here).

we managed to catch fireballs and fireworks on display that night. we were told it was a daily affair. twice a night in fact. once at 8 and another time at 9.

so if you are thinking of spending a leisurely night there... be sure to be there by 9. it's really really nice. up the nua-ing factor.

    1. hygiene hi tinkilily, the fireballs and fireworks are present every night at sentosa? isit true? if yes then i would really want to go there!
    2. tinkilily hi hygiene

What can go wrong on a mild, balmy evening under coconut trees, clean sand, furniture on the beach, background bossa nova, free views of the Songs of the Sea performance and impeccable company? Apart from fruit dropping on your head?

Unfortunately, all too often in Singapore, the answer is bad service. After an afternoon of beach volleyball on Tanjong Beach and languishing in the sun, we made our way to Siloso Beach where we hoped to do nothing but nosh on bar food and imbibe frou frou drinks. Of course the sun was setting as we dropped down on Coastes's Adirondack-style wooden chairs... despite the effort in getting up again to place our order at the cashier. At this point, we seriously believed the hardest part of the evening was deciding on what to eat... which turned out to be pretty easy, especially if you're ordering almost everything off the menu.

The line at the cashier's moved pretty quickly, but things came to an abrupt standstill when we were told that food would take 30 minutes, no exceptions, not even for our two friends who were just breaking fast for Ramadan. We appealed for just the potato wedges to be served first, but no dice. Apparently it would be too difficult to bend the rules a little for people who hadn't eaten for 12 hours, but it was easy enough to charge $3 for a bag of potato chips to tide them over. We were assured that our drinks would arrive soon, so perhaps the $6 orange juice would help, too (help our starving, fasting friends and help the rest of our parched selves). Fine. We paid for the $190 worth of overpriced food ($16 for a dozen chicken wings?) nonchalantly.

Upon settling back down, we were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived about 20 minutes later -- but wait, where were our drinks? They were lucky we were hungry, because we tore into the chicken wings, fish and chips, potato wedges, chicken curry, thin crust margherita pizza, thin crust vegetarian pizza, and spare ribs. The food was reasonably good and the drinks were enough of an icing on the cake at that point that no one was happy to complain.

Of course, another round was necessary, and we went through the whole line-up-pay-up motions again. Almost 20 minutes later, we were still missing my lychee margarita, and I had to leave in 10 minutes for an appointment. We asked to cancel the order, and the waiter said he would do just that... but arrived back with my drink. No one will down a lychee margarita in eight minutes, due to brain and liver freeze potential, so we insisted on a refund. Not possible... we paid with a credit card, so they couldn't void it, and if they did, it would suck for their accounting people and oh wait, are we really wasting more time on this argument? Sustained by upright morales and the principle of not caving in to bad service, we stood our ground... and the only way we got our refund was to have Coastes void the entire order, then ring it up again, sans lychee margarita... or something completely complicated that caused us to be even later for our appointment at the least inconvenience to the restaurant.

    That's an appetising equation.

But, we'll give credit where credit is due, even though credit card functions are complex at Coastes. Take away this stuff, and the combination of tasty bar food and a really nice beachfront atmosphere is truly the perfect way to wind down on a Saturday evening, especially if you're a recovering beach volleyball player.

Must tries: Fish and chips, spare ribs, thin crust pizzas, chicken wings
