| Pork-u Pork-u Pork-u!!!
Found this place by accident actually..
It was a weekend and a couple of my sec school mates wanted to meet up and have a simple dinner together @ The Central.
However...being a saturday night....with no previously agreed location together with a booking...not smart.
Only 2 of us were on time. We kinda decided that it was up to us to find a place to eat. We didn't want to queue and all of us had a budget. Dinner @ The Central on a Saturday Night. Sigh...
So, we were looking around and was on the way down a travelator when 'pop' came a stand with japanese words. I decided to investigate and...riiight at the corner was this tiny eatery. Since, there was only 1 person in queue and the menu didn't have numbers above 20, we decided to give it a try.
No regrets I tell you..
We bought all 4 soup bases, mainly chili, shoyu, salt and (?) and all comes with 3 slices of chasu. We didn't try the choice pork coz they only have limited servings a day and they sold out. (read: no money)
The ramen was not outstanding but it was good. The only real complain we had was that the soup was a little bit too oily. I liked it though, thick and full of flavour..mmmm
Anyways:
Chili - Not bad actually! Pretty strong, the way I like it.
Shoyu - Tastiest of the lot.
Salt - Tastes like Maggi Mee, chicken flavour. Really.
(?) - can't remember man....will update k?
Then you have: the CHASU (Char Siew differenciated for chinese..k?).
Oh. My. God.
That taste? For that price? Looks a little thick and rough but once it touches your mouth? OOhhh...it's soft, chewy not too fatty and the flavours burst right into your mouth while it melts. If their 'normal' chasu already tastes this good, I can't imagine what the choice cheek cuts must be like. Will update when I after I've tried them.
Service is normal. I actually quite like the atmosphere. It isn't pretentious. Feels like a nice cozy little corner to hang out with some friends.
All in all, a good surprise find. |
