| Good and Affordable
It was Mom who first pointed out that our neighbourhood was turning into a bona fide food haven, with good Japanese, Thai, Spanish, Korean, Peranakan and Italian restaurants a stone's throw away from each other. The advent of Thai Central is a welcome addition to the growing roster of eateries that have popped out over the last few months in the area.
Looking clean and sparse, Thai Central isn't the most charming of restaurants, but it's casual vibe and utilitarian interiors are exactly what set this simple dining place aside from other Thai restaurants that almost seem to be unable to refrain from filling with adornments and knick-knacks in a bid to make the place look quintessentially Thai.
A quick study of the menu showed very affordable prices, most if not all of the dishes were below $10. They had a good selection of salads, starters and mains. I foresee going back again to sample the rest of the items in future.
Seafood Salad - warm salad with fresh prawns and squid tossed in glass vermicelli. Very tasty and spicy, bonus points for detectably fresh seafood
Green Curry Chicken - spicy, not mild and moderately generous with ingredients (more so if you compare this to a certain Thai restaurant in Sunset Way with loads less ingredients at more than twice the price)
Thai Tofu - fried to a nice crisp texture, topped with spicy Thai chilli
Soft Shell Crab - unlike some tasteless variations I had at Just Acia and Miss Clarity's, this was actually quite flavourful (in comparison) so points for that.
Thai Kang Kong - delicious and tender
Watermelon & Lime Freeze - sweet, delicious, slushy and thirst-quenching
Whole coconut drink - young, sweet and tender flesh
