| Relaxing quiet ambience
This is my 6th or 7th visit back to Liquids Cafe. What made me returned was the quiet relaxing ambience and the affordable western dishes whipped up by the resident chef. I say resident chef because he is also one of the founders of the cafe, both in this location as well as the one in Bukit Timah. I prefer to go there when the resident chef is on duty because he is able to whip up dishes that may not be on the menu. I recalled once bringing my granny to this cafe and he was able to come up with a seafood dish suitable for her palate. He has an amicable personality and I guess he likes to come up with new dishes. My last visit with my hubby and baby saw us trying out his new dish - baby back ribs cooked in three different ways, quite flavourful better than those we have eaten at restaurant chains. Worth a try. Their wine list has quite good Chilean selection, I am quite surprised to see Riesling in such a small establishment as this is not a common wine in bistro-like establishment. I had a cabernet savignon with my hubby, price is quite reasonable too. As for main dish, they have quite a good selection depending on what u like at that moment, I had tried their recommended pastas on the menu, not very memorable but their seafood puff pastry is good so was the cajun roast chicken especially if u like herbs. Goes well with cabernet savignon. The side dishes such as their baked mussels, fried mushrooms, buffalo wings are worth trying. Their cakes are from Cake Avenue, the tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake are good too. Their fruit juices and concoctions are good too. As for service, I would not say it's outstanding, slight above average. At least the staff are quite attentive to your needs. Only problem with the environment was the exhaust system, as I feel like having eaten in a hawker centre when u leave the cafe, there is an oily smoky stench on your clothes.
