Wouldn't pay more than $12 for the buffet

At first I went to this restaurant with hesitation. I was really expecting a small dingy eatery but it turned out better that I expected. The place was spacious and there was a reasonable amount of crowd there when I went which made it more comfortable.

The service was good although not well-trained. What I mean by that is the service staff are eager and polite and always smiling. But they lack the initiative to refill your soups or cups when you're dry, though it's not much of a big deal to me.

Initially, I found that I had gotten a good deal knowing that I have a UOB card and was "promised" a 50% discount for my meal. However, halfway through my food, I started to get really sick of the "variety", which comprises of 1 type of chicken, 1 type of pork and 1 type of beef - all in similar sweet-tasting marinade. I really thought it was nice at first but it just started getting boring and the soup becomes really salty as we cook more meat. As a prawn lover, I only touch one of their prawns because they were really small and unfresh. The heads were already hanging off the body (which marks that the prawns had been dead for a long time). But thinking that I'll only be paying $12 per person, I decided that it was still an OKAY deal.

Getting sick of our food, we decided to order the Saba Fish. As it was our first time there, we did not get the privilege of Saba Fish on the house. The Fish tasted okay, nice but normal, at $8.

When we were ready to go and paid up with our UOB card, the supposedly-pretty korean lady boss told us that we do not get 50% off for weekends. Instead we only get 30% off for the buffets and not the 50% off total BILL for dinner as this website promised (we were charged the full price of $8 for the Saba Fish).

I do not know if the website had gotten the wrong information or if the lady boss was trying to cheat us. Maybe it was my fault not to verify the promotion before I went. But I know I am very disappointed with the overall experience as the value I received was way below my expectations of the price I paid. And I hope this review will alert people to the difference in what is promised here and offered there.

on Paulaner Brauhaus: Nice but sinful
I have to comment on my own post because I actually did went back a third time during the F1 race night and the pork knuckles actually dropped drastically in standard. The meat was tough and the fats were sticky. It was as if the knuckle read my post above and really waited for me since 2007 in the chef's kitchen.

Thanks for the clarification. At least now I know that it's a disparity between the bank and the restaurant, which makes it even more unforgiving. But just for the record, I never blamed HGW for the mixed up. I merely wanted to keep the HGW users aware of this disparity in offers and not commit the same mistake I did.
