| Better than I had expected!
I hate eating in the CBD during dinner. Maybe it is the parking. Maybe it is because there is no life after dark there. No real shopping, etc. But now that i have found this restaurant, I am glad to say that I will be much more willing to go to shenton way just for this restaurant.
It's my friend's birthday and 2 of us decided to go to this restaurant to celebrate her birthday. We wanted to order 3 short and 1 long (chicken for 2). But thanks to the waiter who informed us that if we are not starving, the 4 dish maybe too much for us. I am glad that we heed his advice.
We ordered Bone marrow, prawn with aioli and for the long, we ordered the grain-fed chicken for 2.
Bone marrow is YUM! Wonderful. Very nicely place on the plate and it tasted good. It had some marmalade at the side with some green vege which you are suppose to put them all onto a toasted bread that they had provided and sprinkle some salt. Really nice stuff. That's provided you are adventurous to eat bone marrow in the first place.
The Prawn is really ordinary and it is really small. 6 prawns. Nothing to rave about. So I suggest not ordering this prawn dish.
The Grain fed chicken for 2 is really wonderful The Meat is tender and juicy. It is well marinated and tasted really tasty. It is serve with Mushroom, mash potato and some cream sauce. Omg. The thought of it makes me drool again. It is nicely cut into 2 and serve in 2 potion.
We were so full. We could not have any dessert.
The ambience is really nice and quiet. Maybe it is a weekday night, there is only 3 tables occupied. It's really nice. The lighting is dim and it can be a nice romantic dinner as well.
They have quite a prompt service. I was able to get the staff quite quickly if needed.
We didn't order wine but had a carafe of mocktail to share. |

| Good food with a large price tag to go along
I have some shang vouchers to use and browse through the shang website to see which restaurant to go to. Given HGW reviews/estimated pricing for each restaurant, I realise that it is impossible to have a relatively "cheap" meal at shang.
However, the average price for Nadaman is about 50 per pax for lunch. Hence, my hub and I decided to venture to this restaurant.
The first flip of the menu nearly choke me. The dinner sets are on average of 120 per set! OMG. It's a killer! The lunch menu is 1 page away and cost like 50 per set. Phew.
We ordered the Tepanyaki set. It is a good thing that they can send the tepanyaki food to your table and you need not sit in front of the hot stove.
I have the seafood set and it is good! The chawamushi is just normal and the salad is quite nice. The seafood set has a small cod fish, a medium sized prawn and a scallop. It is sauteed in butter I think. It is really good. The sauce is not overpowering the food and it complements very well. I can taste the freshness of the prawns and scallop. The fish is sweet and yums!
My Hub had the salmon fillet. Probably I don't like the taste of salmon cooked in that way. It is a little fishy for my liking. I prefer my seafood set.
Next is the meat dish. We had beef which comes with vege, bean sprout and mushroom. The beef is not marinated but it comes with a dipping sauce. Not bad but not fantastic. I prefer the seafood.
The meal comes with a very ordinary vanilla ice-cream. Try to change it if possible. It is really very boring.
Ambience - Quite nice. Relatively quiet. However, due to the tepanyaki, which is a distance away, the place smells just a little of food.
Service - They are really friendly, nice and polite when they get to you. But! That's provided that you can get their attention. For some strange reason, we are unable to get their attention whenever we needed something. We wanted our rice to be serve with the food but I was unable to get them for a really long time. Of course, when they get to me, my anger is all gone as they are really polite.
I think that the lunch is a good deal. It is actually alot of food. The dinner menu seems to be too much to pay for. |

| Yummy Pasta!
I have been wanting to try this restaurant after reading reviews on HGW. However, each time I walk past it... it is EMPTY! I didn't have the courage to walk in since I suspect that the food might not be fresh since their turn over seems so little.
I was wrong! The food is good! YUM! Wonderful! Totally heavenly! I had the squid ink fettucine and it taste wonderful. Each strand of noodle is very tasty. The noodle texture is smooth and springy. It is a little mix with asian food as there are bits of slice red chilli on top of the noodles. How interesting. It is not really spicy.
My hub had spagetti with bacon and it taste just as good. I must say that the food in general is very well made. I don't understand why there is no crowd at this restaurant.
The ambience is very nice and quiet. The lighting is just nice. Nice for a romantic dinner with your partner. |

| long wait!
I called to make a reservation for sunday and was informed by the staff that they were pretty full but 745pm is fine. It was really crowded when i arrived and we had no place to park our car. There is a valet parking service. However, the valet guy was too busy and was unable to handle the crowd. He wasn't at the counter so we had to drive across the road to park at the small lanes and walk over.
We got a table pretty quickly. However the table is just outside the open concept kitchen. The drinks were served promptly. BUT the food takes forever. We waited for an hour before the food arrive! It is terrible. The staffs are sooooooo busy. They were running around taking orders and all. I think that they are under staff.
After 45mins of wait, we decided to ask if our food is going to be ready since my impatient father insist that we should go elsewhere for food.
They simply couldn't give us an answer on the estimated time that the food can be served. We were about to leave in a second when the food FINALLY arrive.
The "brocolli and scallop" and sambal sweet potato leaves tasted like it should be. The hokkien noodle is quite nice although a little too soggy for my liking.
Of course the highlight of the day is their famous Black pepper crab!! This dish is yummy! The black pepper sauce is nice and the crab is very fresh and juicy. The black pepper sauce blands well with the crab. It is spicy enough and the sauce is not too sweet. The black pepper does not have grainy black pepper seed and there are a lot of sauce on the crab.
Most of the food are very reasonably priced. The crab is pretty big and cost $57 for 1 crab. The noodle cost like 6 bucks and the vege is about there as well. The drinks are about 1.50 for a canned drink.
The 2 problem with this place is parking and the wait.
We had a scolding from the owner of the houses where we parked our car. They were complaining that there are too many cars parked on that stretch and that they shouldn't park there. Oh well. We know that it is really too many cars there and had to apologise to them. |

| Food attack!!
We came to this Restaurant for my friend's birthday celebration. We nearly gave this a miss as it is really expensive! (It is slightly cheaper then the line) However, I tried calling other hotel's restaurant and they were all full except Melt and Ritz. My friend and I chose Melt over Ritz as I remembered that Ritz buffet wasn't great.
Upon arrival, the exterior of the restaurant was rather quiet and there weren't much people. We were afraid that we made a wrong choice.
The moment we step into the restaurant, we were overwhelmed with the amount of food. The spread is fantastic. The service is great. They even brought us around for a little tour of the place.
I had thai food, sashimi, seafood, Indian food, dessert and the list goes on. OMG. My tummy was like huge after the meal.
The BBQ food was too smoky. I don't think that they were very well cooked.
The cold seafood were really wonderful. The lobster and prawns were very fresh and sweet. The oysters were just as fresh and yummy. They kept refilling it and it never run out.
The sashimi weren't as good. In my point of view, the sashimi wasn't very fresh. On top of that, there were fish bones found on the salmon sashimi.
The Indian food was a little too salty for my liking. The other food was alright. They had a wonderful spread of cheese and crackers. They even had Movenpick ice-cream!!! YUM!
They have a choc fondue and some tiny plates of dessert. They look really cute and some are really good. I like that the chocolate mousse was being top with strawberry mousse. The combination seems to be very well matched.
The service is wonderful. The staffs are very attentive. The manager will come around to ask if you need help, how's the food, etc. However, they have like 3 managers! I was being asked like 4 times!! (the same questions!) A little too many for my liking. We had to start avoiding them after the third time. |

| Tasty Ramen!
Craze for ramen once again. Had to search on HGW to find a new ramen place to try. Stumbled upon this restaurant that has pretty good rating and decided to try it.
I was sooo excited about my new found restaurant and informed my hub about going for dinner together at this new ramen restaurant at robertson quay. At that point of time, it just struck me that he had mentioned 2 days ago that he had dinner at a ramen store which is located at robertson quay and it was horrible. And true enough it was the SAME STORE!!
Fortunately for me, my hub is VERY willing to try again just for my sake.
Thank God at his willingness to try at the store again. The Shinjiro ramen I had was wonderful. YUM! The soup base is not too salty and it is really tasty. The noodle texture is smooth and nice. Doesn't has the yellow noodle taste. Loads of Vegetables and tao gay. Please NOTE: it is really HUGE! I refuse to believe that i couldn't finish it and ordered the Shinjiro instead of the Madame Shinjiro and it is really too much for me!!
My hub ordered the same Shio pork bone broth in black sesame and garlic oil that he ordered 2 days ago because his friend recommended it and he wanted me to try since I am the food lover. For that one, I find that it tasted bland. Not something that I would recommend. Maybe it is because it is Shio and not the shoyu one. Not sure about that.
The people there are nice and friendly and often refill the water. The food is served very quickly as well. |

| Not bad, Not great
My hub loves ayam penyet. Or should I say chicken in general. Oh well. I decided to hunt down a nice ayam penyet place for him and found this on hungrygowhere.
There was a queue when we got there. However, we didn't have to wait too long. The food is reasonably priced. We were given paper and pencil to write down our orders. They didn't inform us that we have to bring the slip to the cashier to make our orders as well as make our payment. However, the people there all seems to be regular customers and know that the procedure is such.
I wanted the avocado drink but it is sold out! The food there seems to sell out quite fast. I was ordering another drink half an hour later and notice that 3 of their food items are sold out as well.
The chicken is a little dry but tasted pretty nice with the crispy thing that comes along with it. The chilli is really spicy! It is nice that it came with tahu and tempe.
The indonesian fish cake didn't taste like anything special. It tasted like taiwan's "tian bu la". Nothing great. So i suggest that you do not order.
We saw this pink drink that sooo many people are ordering and decided to order it as well. The staff told us that it is happy soda. What an interesting name for the drink. Anyway, it tasted like ice-cream soda. Not bad.
The ice chendol is alright. Not enough gula malacca I think. And it does not come with Kachangs.
Service is the usual coffee shop kind of service. They are mainly service food. Not bad or anything. In fact, they are pretty efficient. |

| Nothing great.
I have been hunting for good butter chicken in Singapore. Haven't really found THE ONE. Have been walking past this Go India! several times but have not step in as I find that their menu is rather pricey.
However, my brother had indian food there once and gave me a good review on it. As such, I decided to go for dinner since I have a craving for indian food.
I had their butter chicken, naan and some chicken curry thing. I find the food relatively tasty. The naan is pretty alright as well. However, there is no wow effect to any of the food. It just tasted like average indian food at a high price. I rather eat at Heritage or some other indian restaurant with that price that they are charging.
The ambience is pretty nice. There is a nice outdoor sitting as well as indoor sitting. Most prefer to sit outdoor facing the sea.
Overall, it is an "OK" experience for me. I suppose it might be a good place if you like to bring your clients for indian food. If not, Maybe somewhere else would be a better choice. |

| Good Food.. Bad Service!
I heard from a friend about this restaurant and decided to give it a shot. My hub Ribeye steak and I had tenderloin.
They start with serving bread and you get to choose which type you want. I prefer the walnut with raisin. The ciabatta tasted pretty bland.
I must say that the tenderloin with a slice of foie gras and black truffle is beautifully done. Wonderful. The meat is TENDER! Juicy and soft. Really very well done. The food was nicely placed with slices of asparagus, baby carrots. The presentation is pretty good. Of course the portion is rather small. I think that man will find it too little for their liking.
As for my hub's ribeye, it is a 150-day aged beef. However, it doesn't taste like it. Hmm. The brown sauce is too sweet and it overwhelmed the beef. I didnt like the sauce at all. My Hub ordered medium and it was serve medium rare. Very bloody. The meat wasn't very well done.
The service staff is HORRIBLE. We had to ask 3 times to get our water and 3 more times to get a refill. They are not well trained at all. The table beside us had their food delayed. Even after we finished our mains, they were not served any food. I noticed that they even ordered before us. They were complaining to the waitress about the delay just before we left.
The staff even drop utensils for like 3-4 times during our 1hr lunch there.
I wanted to try the dessert but my hub was too upset with the service staff that he refuse to stay any longer.
The ambience is nice. It is a nice little church and it is beautiful. There is an outdoor sitting which is not ready when we went. A little corner with some tables which look like a nice spot for a afternoon tea and all. Nice ambience.
On the way out, I notice that there are people who ordered pasta and couldn't finish it. I am not sure if it is bad or it is too much for them. |

| Selected food are terrible!
Had a craving for indian food and decided to search on HGW to find good indian food. Stumble upon this herbs and spices and 11 reviewer rated it well.
I decided to go for it. I must say that it is a bad choice.
We ordered the Garlic Naan, Cheese Naan, butter chicken, some cottage cheese in bell pepper thing, frieds and chicken wings (since there is a promotion of buying beer and adding $5 to get the fries and wings and a chicken in yohgurt sauce.
The butter chicken is not bad. But it tasted the same as the cottage cheese in bell pepper thing. (pardon me. I don't really know the exact words for the dishes.) The garlic naan is not garlicky, the cheese naan is not cheesy. It tasted like plain naan.
The fries tasted like oil/ fried 20times. They did change the fries to wedges after we complained about it. The wedges was alright. The chicken wing tasted like errrm NOTHING! There is absolutely no taste in the chicken wing!!! I really wonder why. Not even chicken taste! It is as if they soak the chicken wings for days and all the sweetness/flavour of chicken is gone!
The chicken marinated in Yoghurt thing is quite tender and tasted nice. Except that it has some blood in it.
The service staff is very friendly and nice. We told them about the chicken and they decided to waive the $5 off the bill. The food is affordable. Very reasonably priced.
However, I will not be back at this restaurant again. |
