| Hair found on dish
We make an order for a dessert named "That expensive dish", and to our
astonishment, it came with a short piece of hair at the side of the souffle
cup. We asked a service assistance for an explanation. She apologised,
replied that it could be an eye-lash and told us that she would change the
dish, but we'll need to wait for another 10 minutes or so.
10 mins or so later, a person whom I assumed could be the floor manager
approached with the dish and apologised for the incident. Again, we asked
for an explanation, and he replied that a hair could possibly fall into the
dish and all he could do (and which is the usual policy of the cafe) is to
redo the dish.
As a consumer, and especially in today's context, when conscientious
hygiene level is at a paramount. I believe this cafe needs to ensure
that their level of hygiene is in check. Sufficient hygiene work practices should be in place.
To some, I maybe over-reacting over a piece of harmless eye-lash. The point I'm putting across extremely is an undeniable fact that this cafe does not seems to see that the lack of hygiene check and policy is a big problem.
Appalled by the could-not-be-more-bothered attitude of the floor manager, I questioned him
on the level of hygiene that is in force. Unfazed, he repeated that the hair hair happen to fall and "It's natural".
Bowled over by his 'natural' answer, I repeated "You are telling me it's perfectly normal for hair to fall into the food?".
He nodded and walk away.
Obviously, at oomphatico's the level of hygiene is highly questionable, customer service extremely
poor, attitude obnoxious.
I am sure I will never ever step into the cafe again.

Very Hungry Ghost on Oomphatico's: Hair found on dish Well, it IS normal for hair to fall into the food during preperation and you were making a mountain out of a molehill. The manager offered to redo the dish. It's not like he's forcing you to eat up the dish with the stray hair in it. I pity the staff involved and I'm so glad I don't work in the service industry anymore with customers like you around.
Jeremy Lee 920 on Oomphatico's: Hair found on dish Restauranteurs in Singapore are a pitiable lot, as Singaporeans must be the most difficult and fussiest customers in the world. This review can be described as that cliché: Making a mountain out of a molehill.
First off, I must say that I wouldn't like to find a piece of hair on my food either. At this point, if it is only at the side of the plate and not touching the food itself, I would proceed to brush the hair away and continue with my food, knowing full well that I will not die or get diarrhoea from just a tiny bit of hair. My body is stronger than that. I have done this before. If the hair is touching my food, or if I really cannot get past this fact, I will call for the waiter, and as with most restaurants in town, he will replace the dish, and that will be that.
What I cannot understand is why it is so difficult to accept that small mistakes happen, and this does not indicate that the level of hygiene in the restaurant is questionable at all. To say that is an exterme over-reaction. I'm sure they are reasonably concerned with hygiene, but like the manager feels, it is indeed perfectly natural for hair to fall onto food and there's nothing much they can do to prevent it. May I ask the reviewer, do you have hair? Does your hair fall? I'm sure it does. If your hair falls, so does the hair of the staff at the restaurant, unless you expect them to be superhuman. Please don't expect people to be perfect.
Furthermore, you say that the customer service is poor, I would like to ask this reviewer what you had expected the manager to do in this situation. He has already replaced the dish and apologised. Did you expect him to kowtow to you and kiss your feet as well? If you think the manager had a poor attitude, could it be because the way you were speaking to him was rude and condecending? If you want service staff and restaurants to be nice to you, you should be clam and polite yourself first. Please keep your massive sense of self-entitlement in check and realise just because you're a customer doesn't mean that your money entitles you to push people around.
That said, it's your right not to step into this restaurant again, I'm sure everyone there will heave a sigh of relief too.
