German Fare in Chinatown Hawker Centre?

Visited this newly renovated hawker centre for lunch and accordingly to my colleagues, it was just reopened 3 months ago.

The intention of the trip was to savour the famous Yong Tau Hoo, which we did but alas, I forgot the name of the stall!! Then as I was looking around for seats, I chanced upon this unusual stall with a catchy black and red signage. German food in a hawker centre??

Although I've already eaten a portion of Yong Tau Hoo, I ordered a Chicken (they have pork too) Cordon Bleu to try. The piece was fried to golden brown and served hot. Glad that it wasn't over-fried and the dish came with a portion of fresh veg. The chicken was nicely crumbed and crispy on the outside, while the meat was juicy and tender. The cheese just oozed out at the first cut but surprisingly, the overall taste was a tad too bland. Somehow the ham and cheese failed to add to the flavour of the meat and given that I've tried this dish at other places before, this version was rather subdued. It was priced at $8 and IMHO, the portion could be bigger.

The joint also serves the regular german fare such as bratwurst and pork knuckle which i shall be back to try. Located in a hawker centre helps to keep the prices reasonable and the concept certainly looks promising. Wait for me porkie, I will be back!

Serious?? There is a poster with a Caucasian guy with TCS stars, but the chef serving me that day was a local chinese dude. But I'll certainly return again.

This is run by the guys who used to run Wiener Kaffeehaus. Glad to see that it's good. Will drop by.
