| Only 1 ala-carte dish worth ordering...
went there for dinner with my family. we decided on this location, despite numerous protests from me, purely due to logistical concerns.
restaurant was newly renovated but still have that tacky look. cheap veneers cover the wall. karaoke room at the side. pray hard that the soundproof doors are closed. else brace yourself.
i looked through the pathetic ala-carte menu. 3 pages. total 33 items. only 1 worth ordering - roasted chicken. need i say more? my siblings came to the same conclusion. we ended up ordering set menu.
8 dishes in the set
- cold dish
all deep fried stuff. totally not edible
- sharks fin soup
watery with minimal fins
- roasted chicken
the best dish that night
- steam pating fish with asam sauce
fishy fish masked by the sour sauce
- prawns with oat meal
2nd best dish for the night
- meat with beancurd skin
didn't bother to try. why waste calories?
- fried noodles
tasteless
- almond jelly with logan
it tasted like it came straight from a can
totally not worth the money and calories. avoid at all cost. |

Jackie Low on Lei Garden Restaurant (Chijmes): One of the best Cantonese Restaurants in Singapore I had a terrible experience at Lei Gardens today. I had a lunch booking for 11 persons for 12.30 p.m. today. They were over-booked and did not even have the decency to own up to it from the outset. Despite repeated enquiries, we were fobbed off with the excuse that they were getting our table ready. It was only AFTER 45 MINUTES and only after I had made a terrible scene that we were seated at a hastily put-up table squeezed against a corner on the 2nd floor . One of my guests in fact had to leave before eating anything as she had a meeting. Further, as the table had to be tucked right against the corner, food could not even be served properly and had to be passed down by one guest to the next. Needless to say, this was the most humiliating and absolutely worst dining experience that I have ever had in my life. We were also not the only party to suffer from the over-booking. I WILL NEVER EVER DINE AT LEI GARDENS AGAIN.
