Eat & be merry...

29 June 2008 : The Happi Family members – AC, CP & JC were joined by the Pagan Gang member DTEO in offering our labour early in the morning to feed the hungry. We were very hungry too and so… we decided to go to this feeding place to eat & be merry peasants.

SLIDE SHOW

I liked the booth seats at this feeding place. =o)

I liked the fried chicken.. though it would be lovely if they served it piping hot. The har gow and siew mai were tasty. I found the fish porridge with century egg way too thick. The 2 types of chee cheong fun were lovely too.

I will return again to eat the dim sum one fine day

The Happi Family goes to Bistro 103 ! ~

28 June 2008 : The Happi Family (Jc, RL, AC, CP, NS & 77) decided to go to this feeding place to celebrate RL’s birthday. It was RL who chose this feeding place. JC bundled the Happi Family and made reservations for 6pax at 630pm.

When we arrived, we were immediately ushered to our table. This feeding place is located inside a shophouse…. It was really cosy and the air-conditioning was great.

We ordered :
Italian bruschetta $3.80
Ham & Cheese wrap $7.50
Saucy Beef Chunks $26.90
Salmon & chicken pasta (aglio olio) $13.90
Salmon & chicken pasta (cream sauce) $13.90
Salmon & chicken pasta (tomato sauce) $13.90
Flat White $4.00

SLIDE SHOW

I had the saucy beef chunks. I really enjoyed this dish. The greens were lovely and the large pieces of chips were tasty. The beef chunks with mushrooms were tender & juicy and they easily went down my GI Tract.

The Italian bruschetta was quite ordinary.

The service staff were attentive and they plied us with generous amounts of water.

I’m not sure if I would return…. Mainly because this is so very far away from the old shack.

hungry peasants after an escapade….

28 June 2008 : the gang of peasants – JT, EW, RZ, GL and JC – decided to meet to get some sustenance after our morning escapade. I was very happy to be eating dim sum because I have been craving for dim sum for quite awhile. =o)

SLIDE SHOW

I really enjoyed myself and the food was reasonably good. The service staff were prompt at pouring more tea into our empty cups and serving the food to the table quickly.

I was filled with a great sense of well-being because I had satisfied my craving for dim sum….

Chill-out session ….

27 June 2008 : The gang of peasants decided to go to this drinking place to try it out. We walked in and ushered ourselves to a seat. When we asked for the menu, we were told we had to wait because the other only occupied table was looking at the menu. Hmmm…. Perhaps it would be a good idea if they send more menus for printing….

I ordered : Mojito $15

SLIDE SHOW

My mojito was alright… but as usual… I felt that it wasn’t stiff enough. I gulped down my drink and left the group of peasants to take the peasant bus back to the old shack.

Gathering of peasants over dinner

27 June 2008 : JC joined RL's gang of peasant friends for dinner. RL made reservations for 6pax. This feeding place was not crowded at all when we arrived at 7pm.

We ordered :
Chinatown Heritage Cuisine Set meal for 6 ($118.80++)

SLIDE SHOW

The food was generally good. I liked the samsui ginger chicken very much. The broccoli was also nice & crunchy.

This is a good place to have a nice dinner and fill up. We were satisfied peasants as we proceeded to our next destination - Naumi Bar.

Satisfied my craving

26 June 2008 : RL & JC came to this place mainly because JC wanted to satisfy her craving for kulfi.

We ordered :
[RL] - Kulfi Bar's Special $7.50
[JC] - TangoMango $6.90

I Liked my tangomango very much. The spices were blended into the kulfi so well.

Im not sure if i would return mainly because it is kind of expensive for a peasant to eat kulfi for $6.90.

Rendezvous with NS

25 June 2008 : It was an exceedingly boring day at the sweatshop. Then NS's call came in to brighten up my work day. We met for lunch and i suggested this feeding place.

We ordered :
[NS] - Vegetarian Set $5
Masala Chai Latte with ice $3.30

[JC] - Non-Vegetarian Set $6
Masala Chai Latte $3.30

The non-vegetarian set was lovely. The mutton curry was very tasty. The mutton pieces were sufficiently tender. I liked the cauliflower dish and the salad with mint sauce.

The masala chai latte was ordinary.. I would prefer if there was more spices infused into the cup of tea. $3.30 for a cup of masala tea is also very expensive.

Must Tries: lunch set ....

decent food

21 June 2008 : RL & JC decided to come here for dinner as we were in the area. We just needed to fill up our peasant tummies and proceed with the activity for the rest of the day.

We ordered :
[JC] - Black Angus Prime Sirloin $18.80
[RL] - Black pepper crispy chix $8.80

I liked this place... they were VERY generous with cold water. They left a full jug of cold water on our table. The food also came very quickly.

I enjoyed my sirloin... it was medium-done, tender, juicy and it retain its natural meat juices. My sirloin came with sauteed mushroom and onions. I liked it ver much.

I will return again some day

I did not like the mango basil cake

20 June 2008 : The gang of peasants - JT, GL, EW, RZ and JC - decided to gather to celebrate RZ's birthday. We order a bourgeoise cake from this place :

Mango Basil

This mango cake really did not taste good to me. It wasn't the basil... I think it was the liquer inside. It made the cake taste rather bitter.

I love mangoes and mango cakes are great. However, I would not try this particular mango basil cake again.
