34 Arab Street, Singapore
FINALLY- something different on arab street!

driving back home from work a while back through arab street i saw this place out of my car, the first thing that struck me was their list of beers, which is displayed on a black board outside the cafe, i wasn't even aware that there was a place on arab street that sold beer, let alone such a wide range! so a few days later i went down with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. i was very pleasantly surprised by the interior, its a beautifully comfortable place with mismatching furniture and adorable wall decorations. we were told to sit wherever we felt comfortable and straight away everyone started to relax. after a look through their menu i felt that i had finally found my place, it was a lovely mix of mediterranean and western food, and the prices were reasonable. we ended ordering the beef burger, the belgrade bite (apparently this is the next door cafe specialty), the philly cheese steak sandwich (mmmmmmmmmmm), the orange chicken and their seafood pasta. a few ppl weren't too hungry so they shared a basket of onion rings.

Then we came to ordering our drinks, we were a bit early for their happy hour (its a beer bucket promo) and 3 ppl opted for soft drinks, so we each ordered different beers, and my what a choice they have, 24 different beers on that first day we went, i've gone again since then and this has grown to 29 different ones (including a champagne beer), i've been told that this list is still a growing one! The choice is incredible as well, along with your standard heinekens and coronas, next door cafe seems to focus on getting beers that are more difficult to find in singapore and are of a higher quality, boutique breweries from all over europe, the us and australia can be found here, and at reasonable prices ($9 for a little creatures pale ale, and i have never found it for under $12)

The food is delicious and wholesome, even their minced meat manages to be juicy and tender, unlike anything i've had before. Their choice of desserts isnt a particularly big one, but i highly recommend the apple crumble, it is to die for.

The service is always warm and friendly, if you come back a few times the staff will even make the effort to learn your name! Finally -THE best cappuccino at Next Door Cafe: creamy, foamy, amazing - directly from heaven. Could anyone ask for more?

Must Tries: philly cheese steak sandwich, ginger & apple juice, cappuccinno
