| Good value for money!
I've read abt this famous Yuen steamboat and last week, I was up in KL for biz trip hence decided to check out this place with my 2 KL buddies.
There's quite an extensive spread of variety except they only have chicken (as it's halal and oso the local chinese dont fancy beef). Lots of seafood item like good size tiger prawns, yabbies (looks like mini lobsters but doesnt taste very fresh to me), oysters, scallops, half shelved cockles (i took some but didnt ate it when i noticed it turned black colour so I jus throw it away), flower crabs (didnt try as i'm too lazy to peel), snail look-alike (tis taste so hard & rubbery), bamboo clam (fresh & juicy), lala (i didnt try)
Overall, it was pretty good spread. I like their thick tom yam soup. Drank quite a fair bit of it. I ate quite alot of tung-Oh (veggie), xiao bai cai, tiger prawns which i find it very fresh, oysters. They oso hv cooked item like fried rice, fried mee siam, rendeng chicken and their famous chicken wing coated in thick sauce (always run out once its out). They oso hv fruits (pineapple & watermelon) and desserts, i like their malay kuey..esp the one in pandan & coconut coated (green & white). Not too sweet nor heavy, it's very smooth and simply melt in your mouth. They also provide free flow of ice cream, a few flavours to choose from chocolate chip, strawberry, mango ice cream. My frds said it taste pretty good not like those cheapo ice cream. I only had a sip of it as i'm too stuffed.
At RM19.80 + 5% Gov tax. Drink is not included. I'm not sure ice water is free as we ordered 4-5 glass of ice tea, 1 large fruit juice and 2 lime juice. Our total bill for 4 turned out to be RM97 which i find is pretty reasonable. I went there during weekday though there's queue but they managed to find us a table within 10mins, be prepared to wait for at least 30mins during weekend! |

| Frogleg Porridge worth a try
I brought my frd for dinner on 22 Apr 09 since she loves froglegs porridge and it's her bday too.
We ordered their Gong Bao Tien Ji Zhou Buy 3 free 2 frogs & porridge at $22+. I like their porridge which is much fragrant and tasty that the normal plain porridge. Craypot Froglegs is tasty too, not as gluey as the other famous stall and favourful. All 3 of us left the place with a full stomach.
Their drink are pretty pricey at S$2+ a glass. There is a 7% GST for all food & drinks consume.
I will go back if I've craving for frogleg porridge. |

| Food has no consistency.
Me and a couple of friends went there on 2 May for dinner. Most of us agreed that the food are mediocre. Well if not for the Citibank 50% off offered, I doubt we will go check it out.
In the centre of the restaurant are the hot items e.g, lamb chop, mouse with white wine sauce, stir fried spinach with mushroom, stir fried brocoli & cauliflower, beef rendang, sambal fish, teriyaki chicken, tom yam soup, chicken & vegetable clear soup, help yourself homemade bread counter and diff types of cheese. In the bar counter, you've the roast beef, roast potato, cheese fondue wif bread, grilled cheese (forgot the name). On the other side is the seafood counter, fresh oysters, mussels, pathetic salmon sashimi & tuna placed in a tiny jap box, a few types of salad available grilled vegetables, shrimp salad, chicken salad, beef salad, grapefruit & orange salad. Lastly, the dessert corner where u've the chocolate fondue and diff types of cakes & movenpick ice cream.
Personally, I feel that their food do not have consistency. The first time I tried their lamb chop, it was tough, dry & bland. However, the 2nd time I tried it, the lamb chop was grilled to perfection, succulent & juicy and melt in my mouth. Same goes to the roast beef counter. My first serving was bad hence I did not touch it again, i saw my bf took some roast beef and the color and texture looks tender & juicy and I had a bite and it taste pretty good. The swiss cheese fondue and another type of fondue cheese where the chef will placed the cheese under a hot metal plate till its soft before scrapping it into my plate are my personally fave though I like the fresh oysters however I noticed the first time when I had my oysters, it was fresh, clean & succulent. The subsequent helping, there was noticed of shell pieces in the oysters which is very poorly done for a 5 stars hotel. I like the chocolate fondue & strawberries, what could be more comforting to end your meal with a nice sweet dessert.
Service wise is acceptable but not impecable. Maybe bcos it's a weekend and it was pretty packed hence they don't refill or clear your plates until you ask them to do so.
Overall, I find it's not bad mainly bcos of the citibank 50% off from the usual S$50++ per pax. There's no harm giving it a try esp on a weekend dinner, everywhere seem pretty steep and for $30/pax, its not a bad deal. |

| Totally not worth it unless its 50% off
I totally agreed with Odem review abt Shillawon. It's definitely no quality (more of mass quantity).
Me and my frd decided to go Suntec for dinner over the weekend months back. As we dun knw what to eat & since most places are packed with ppl except Shillawon, we thought of giving this place a try. (BIG MISTAKE)
They offered marinated meat like chicken, beef, fresh prawn & squids, some korean dishes like pancake seafood, 2 diff types of soup (cant rember the name of it) and a few others. They oso hv vegetables, sashimi (which is frozen salmon, i'm not kidding!), coffee/tea, elcairs and some fruits. The vegetables are not fresh at all and most of the self service food, they did not replenish. I guess the only consoling part is their marinated meats & prawns.
Service? We need to try very hard to get the service staffs attention, practically you dont get any service at all unless they managed to notice your existance. Try to use both hands and wave big. Might help. :)
We paid S$29.90++ per pax which is so not worth it. We both leave the place unsatisfied & smell like BBQ pork. It's so obvious whether will I go back or not! |

| Worth a Try!
I had a hi-tea buffet last Saturday with 2 friends and my overall experience was pretty good. Only thing I find they tends to put too much sauce (e.g the black pepper beef, beef is very tender & juicy but personally i find the black pepper way too overpowering).
GREEN MANGO SALAD } both salad is not bad but
POMELO SALAD } nothing to shout about
THAI SPRING ROLL - i find it so so
THAI FISH CAKE - Its GOOD!
TOM YAM SOUP WITH CHICKEN - I like the soup & spicy clear soup
BEEF WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE - beef is v tender but too much sauce
GREEN CURRY WITH CHICKEN - its pretty good
‘PANANG’ CURRY WITH SLICE FISH FILET - i quite enjoy this dish
THAI STYLE CHICKEN SATAY -
CHICKEN WRAPPED IN PANDAN LEAF - mine was pretty dry whereas my bf said his simply melted in his mouth.
CHICKEN WITH BASIL LEAVES - its delicious esp the basil.
THAI BABY KAI LAN WITH SALTED FISH - pretty good
STEAMED RICE - i'm surprised their rice is pretty moist & fragrant. Goes so well with the green curry, pahang or other sauce.
Service is very good. The waiter never fail to refill our jug of water once he notice its running low.
I quite enjoyed the warm & cosy ambience that Suanthai create in their restaurant.
Overall, I pretty enjoyed my lunch and will wana go back and check out other dishes which I have not try again.
Hi Tea (11.30am - 3pm) $13.80++ (wet tissue charge @ $0.30). Each person paid $16.60 which I find is very worth it. |

| MUST TRY - Citibank 1 for 1 offer
I was browsing HGW earlier and saw Benjamin's review on Azur and their citibank offer. I decided to go there for dinner tonight with my bf as I had dine there before and had a great dining experience.
Azur offer a good international buffet spread of seafood corner e.g fresh succulent oysters, scallop, mussel. Sashimi (tuna, salmon & swordfish. Chef will slice it for you upon your request), assorted sushi, assorted cheese, local delicacies like black pepper crab, braised pork belly, black pepper crayfish, beef rendeng, mutton rendeng, olive rice, seafood fried rice, achar, roast lamb (very juicy & succulent), pasta corner (cook upon request), ratatouille, braised potatoes, asian seafood (fresh crab meat), chicken salad, tahu goreng etc and a whole spread of desserts, fruits and my fave haagen daze ice cream (Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate & cookie & cream flavour).
I had a great feast tonight and certainly enjoy my dinner alot. Service is very attentive, when I was tucking my pepper crab, the waiter will bring me a bowl of lemon water, crab cracker & serviette without me requesting it. When I request for ice, the waiter will bring me a big glass filled with ice and whenever it runs out, he will refill it.
Thanks Benjamin for letting me knw abt this Citibank 1 for 1 offer that we only pay $49.43 for 2 after discount (S$42++ per pax valid frm Sun-Thu only). I certainly will go back again. |

| NOT WORTH IT
I've been there 3 times with 3 diff experience, the first time when I was there with my friends for dinner during wkday (when they jus open not long ago), the service was pretty good, we get what we ordered however, subsequent time when I freq, the service & food was mediocre and pathetic.
I'm not sure is it their strategy in not serving the sashimi platter with other food we ordered and out of 5 sashimi we ordered, only 3 came and by thn, the waitress came over to our table for our last order as I am still waiting for my sashimi, I ordered an additional one but only 1 came. I also noticed that the quality of the sashimi wouldnt as fresh as the 1st serving. The other food were mediocre, I personally find the grilled stuff too salty but the stir fried kimchi with pork is very appertising.
After our last dinner experience, I WOULD NOT recommend this place to diners esp those who aiming for sashimi.
We spend about $150 include 2 buffet dinner and a bottle of 720ml sake. $33++ for dinner buffet. I would rather go Senki for the price I pay, beside Senki serve swordfish (mekajiki) sashimi not many jap buffet restaurant serve. |

| Steamboat Buffet - Not Worth It
I went down last week with my frds & bf to check out this steamboat place as they advertised on tv and claimed NO MSG. But i doubt so, cos all of us drank lots of drinks and feeling thirsty after our meal.
For the price we pay, i certainly do not think its worth it. Well, if what they claim is true (NO MSG, Fresh Meat & Live Crab), I would say so but the truth is NOT.
What they claim Live Crab is simply frozen, its soft and gave out crab stale smell. I had a bite and skip it. Their dory fillet is very fishy, that whole plate we ordered we simply couldnt consume it.
Beef slice, chicken slices, liver, and cockles are fresh which are the only credit. I don't find the soup any special at all, after we turn off the stove, I could see a layer of thick fats floating on top of the chicken broth soup.
Their drinks they offer are those orange and grape syrup which is very pathetic.
We paid S$18.80 per pax, there's 0.20 cent tissue charge which they will include in the bill. Definitely not worth it. (Lunch price at $15.80 till 3pm) |
