| I have NOTHING POSITIVE to say about this place
Gist: went to Sweet Indulgence filled with expectations only to be utterly disappointed.
When I first stepped into Sweet Indulgence, I thought the whole shop was beautifully set up; cozy and generally "clean". The place is not too big. It is able to hold approximately 25-30 pax at any one time. (Base on rough estimation)
Given the fantastic promotion that Sweet Indulgence is offering in all Saturdays in the month of August, we ordered a calamari, smoked salmon pasta and a Capriccioso pizza.
While we were happily chatting among ourselves and waiting for the food, suddenly we heard people quarreling in the kitchen. It was so loud that I think all diners were kind of shocked! Well, it doesn't matter to me that the chefs were having a disagreement. However, it is not alright when it affects the quality.
This was what happened. When my calamari came, I was immediately disappointed with the quantity. Secondly, each calamari was so small in size and that affects the bite. There was nothing much to chew on. Thirdly, the sauce was COLD and tasteless. What got me really upset was this. I asked for tartar sauce. The waitress was kind enough to check with the kitchen to see if there was any. Guess what was the chef response? "(Angrily) ARRR.. Just tell them don't have lah!" (The chefs were still arguing when I made my request) Well, it was stated in the menu that you could have either the marinara sauce or the tartar sauce. It was alright that the waiter did not check with me on the sauce I want. However, when I asked for the other sauce, I expect it to be given. Has anyone eaten calamari without tartar sauce? Absolute ridiculous. If you don't have the relevant sauce, then don't include it on your menu! In addition, I don't think it’s my problem if the chefs are having a disagreement among themselves. Why should I be made to sacrifice when I am afterall paying for my food? Doesn't make sense! If it were not because I was hungry, I would have canceled all my orders and just leave after paying just for the calamari.
Other than the starter, main course was another disappointment. When my pasta came, I thought it was under cooked. The pasta was so hard. I am afraid I might suffer from indigestion. I wanted to ask for Parmesan cheese to go with my pasta. However, after the first encounter, I simply dropped the idea. The pizza was not worth mentioning as well. It was so soggy and unevenly cut. Some slices were so huge and others were miserable in size.
Conclusion: Firstly attitude of the chef is really bad. Secondly, the taste is not fantastic. Thirdly, waiting time is extremely long. We waited for close to 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Fourthly, be prepared to be asked to leave should you not finish your food within the stipulated time period (i,e, 6-8 or 8-10). This is so even though it is by no fault of yours as the chefs were simply taking too much time to whip out your meal.
Lastly, noticed I inserted inverted comers in the word clean in my second para? Well, that's because I noticed that there were wet, soggy newspapers lying on the floor near the bar counter. I dare not imagine the conditions back in the kitchen.
