Good food=good value

This restaurant is fast becoming my family's favourite. We have been celebrating family bds here. We love the food, esp the beef carpaccio, the beef cubes, the shabu shabu steamboat, which of course is ala carte buffet. The century egg toufu is really good too...
This place even has private rooms that seats up to 16.

Must try. The only minus point about this place is the air con which does not seem to be working all the time.

Not worth while

I brought my parents here for lunch, hoping to have some good dim sum. Food is satisfactory here, the noodles were too salty. We had the 软骨面and 牛腩面. My older girl ordered a plate of seafood fried rice which was tasteless at $16.90.

I was charged $4 per person for tea, which I paid $16 for a pot of tea. Wow. My 2 miserable plates of walnut appetizer was $7.

Overpriced and food that is nothing to rave about.

Must Visit

This is an all time favourite of our family. When we were living in HK from 2003-2006, we never fail to bring our guests to this place... the spicy crab is out of the world..It is a different version to our Singapore's chilli crab. this one is a dry version but cooked with tons of garlic and chilli and mind you, the dai lat version is so spicy even our singapore palate cannot tahan.

it goes best with their plain fried noodles and the Blu girl beer. Cheers

Go try it!

Love the ambience, minus the flickering light

My girlfriends and I tried Mimolette a week or 2 ago. We were very pleased with the food. I had the quail which was really nicely done and my gf had the rack of lamb which they polished up real quickly. Considering the fact that one of my gf eats like a bird, that was really quite a feat for her.

We had dessert and the cheese platter. No complains about it at all as it was also polished up clean.

Tonight I am bringing my hubs to try the place.

Value for money

Was a little skeptical before going after reading the 50-50% review of the place.
But never try never know... so we went.

I had the beef set, hubby had the sashimi set, I ordered a zaru soba for my girl and a hot tempura soba for my other girl and a nabe something for my mum.

Portions were generous and the sashimi was fresh.

Total bill came out to $130 for 4 adults and 2 kids.. not too bad I feel.

Finally tried it

Being one of those Leap year babies, my husband decided to treat me to a Spa package at The Sentosa and we ended the spa with a dinner at the Cliff.

My husband had the degustation menu while I chose the ala carte menu.
We shared the freshly shucked oysters which were really good. Then I had my appetiser-The Shelled Mangrove Crab. I quite like it though the dijon curry creme kinda destroyed the fresh taste of the crab. A little too Indian for me.

Then I had the Pumpkin Seed Crusted Blue Nose Seabass. Not usually a fish person, but this one was really good. The skin of the sea bass was crispy and the contrast of the soft meat to the pumpkin seed was a great balance. Frankly, I can't remember what my husband had... haha..

We both had a glass of wine and didn't order desserts as we were too full.

Must Tries: freshly shucked oysters

Good Value

Just had our dinner last night. IT was great value for money. We ordered the seafood set menu for 10 at $268.

We had
1) Steamed prawns- fresh and succulent
2) Batin fish- fresh and tasty
3)Water cress soup- the pork ribs in it were soft and soup was yummy
4)Preserved fermented bean deep fried pork ribs which was soft and slides off the bone
5)Fried Crab beehoon- We enjoyed this dish very much as it was very good, quite close to the one we go to at Geylang Lor 35.
6)Peking duck
7) Fried duck meat wrapped with lettuce
8)Fruit Platter

Must Tries: preserved beancurd friend pork ribs

Extremely enjoyable

My husband n I love to look for new places to try and for our once a fortnight date without our kids, we decided to pay La Papillon a visit.

We loved the decor and the food was extremely enjoyable. We had the set dinner and I am blown away by the Rigatoni pasta with crustacean oil. My hubs ask me to go find out how to make it! Tall Order!!!

On the whole, it was good value for money and quality of food was excellent. The portions were just right and not too overwhelming. We will come back again and again.

We also had a great bottle of sparkling rose to go with our food.

FIsh Head Curry, die die must try

We live really nearby this restaurant but hardly eat here, dunno why.

Anyhow, one night, my husband and I decided to walk over and share a pot of fish head curry.... and boy was it yummy. It was just shiokness, spice and good fresh fish head with loads of vegetable.

We managed to polish off the whole pot though... paiseh.. but that shows how good it was.

Might big piece of meat

My husband and I went to Morton's 2 nights ago to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Having been away from Singapore for 3 yrs, we have heard alot about Morton's but never had the chance to try it.

It was a nice atmosphere but for the price you are paying for and the supposed "class" of this place, it was very noisy like Jack's place. We could hardly hear the waiter describing the diff types of meat to us, and it didn't help that his Indian accent was strong.

He recommended the filet mignon to me because ladies usually take it because of the small portion. However, when it came, it was actually 2 pieces of mignon and I was expecting just one piece. That was $83 but the mignon was very juicy and flavoursome.

My husband had the ribeye which came in a gigantic portion of 16 oz. We didn't share because we both like our beef done in diff. ways- he medium rare and me medium... so we stuffed ourselves and forced ourselves to finish up the beef because it was just so expensive lah.

We both had a glass of wine, I had a pinot noir and my ah lau had this other red which I cannot remember. Wine was so so for at a price tag of $25 per glass.

Later, we told the waitress that it was our anniversary and they were really sweet and took a photo for us and also gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse cake which was to die for. We couldn't not eat it anymore and she was really sweet to pack it for us to bring home to our girls to try. Yes, she was tipped generously.
