| Ha Ha Ha... still eating Food Republic in HK?
This is the quintessential SG export... Food Republic. The concept and layout is the normal SG foodcourt style that we are familar with. Chope a table with frens and go buy your own food.
Famous stalls here are SG Sergent Boneless Chicken Rice (???), Singapore Yong Tau Foo (more???) and Malaysian Sinagpore Desserts Stall... (eerm)
Miss Piggy went for the Thai stall for Pad Thai. (HKD$35). There are many choices here like noodles, congee and Macua style food. They also have little restaurants like Jap sushi etc.
Nice place to get some budget eats as you do your shopping here at CityGate. The other eating joints are are restaurants which cost a tiny bit more. |

| Huge Giant portions: Bring your tum tum....
This is the Cha Chan Teng near the place i stay. I eat here quite often as sometimes just too lazy and want to have a quick bite fast fast...
If its breakfast you are having, try the Century egg with pork Congee or the Macarroni with Double Egg. These are safe choices for me and top up with a milk tea... Cost HKD$21 for food and HKD$14 for drink. Cheap!
Dinner i like their Braised ee-fu noodles with Braised beef (ngau lam). For HKD$38 gets you this enormous portion to feed 2 hungry grown men! Lotsa noodles, kai lan and beef... Big chunky slices of ngau lam so delish cooked....
Typical CCT so no ambience nor much service to speak of anyway... |

| Spicy Spicy i love you.....
This is actually a Sichuan style restaurant located in LKF area. SO and me celebrated his BDay here just last month. This place is really popular so if no reseervations, try to go early like about 6-630 for early seating. HK people do not eat this early so it is the best time to grab a table.
The decor is very chinese themed and the staff are dressed in the chinese costume also. We ordered the Chicken and glass noodles in seasame sauce, Smelly Tofu and Beef slices cooked in Sichuan Ma-La Base.
The chicken with glass noodles is a cold dish. i like the glass noodles that is flat and wide like kway teow. Nice pick-me-up after a hot day. The Smelly tofu is smelly factor number 6/10. It is actually smellier than the one i had at the roadside stall! It is also with a mild spicy sweet sauce. The golden cubes of tofu are served piping hot and smelly...(i lurve) Last but not least is the 3 Chilli factor Spicy beef slices in Ma-La Broth. Erm... but to my very good chilli endurance, this is no fire at all...*sign* but to those who do not take spicy it may heat you up a bit....
The draw here is that they have a China Dark Beer that is super delish! And ask the staff to bring you some ceramic bowls to drink your beer with... So fun to drink beer with chinese bowls! |

| One word: Stunning...
Miss Piggy was half hour late thus missed the 8pm Symphony of Lights show. This bar at One Peking is at the top level of the building and gives you a most wonderful view of Island from TST. It is really stunning and you can see the entire coastal view of HK Island. Go to the back where they have the booth area and you can catch a glimpse of TST nightlights.
A must try at least once. The current promotion when i was there was a bottle of Moet Rose with free tapas platter. Or you can order cocktails or bubbly in indivdual flutes. Premium bar prices applies. |

| Clubbing - Hong Kong Style
When you go to HK the one thing you can't miss out is the great night scene they have there. From the mgmt of Hei Hei comes Beijing Club. A trendy upmarket club where only the elite and exclusive gets in. Look at the Q of people out there... Even in winter time they will Q up for hours to get in... Pls, if you are not on the list at the door forget it cos may wait forever to get it...(posh snob hahaha)
A big suprise is that most of the staff here are either Fillipinos or Nepalense so all of them speak good english. The staff will lead you to the table reserved for you or you can wander thru the multi level club where different levels have a different music genre. Drinks menu here is wide and many choices but all are at a premium price. Mixers for bottles are chargable, so is the ice cubes!
The HK people really know how to let go and enjoy themselves. They are really wild and fun and the vibe of the place is totally different from SG. Give this place a try, maybe get there early to get in...*cheers* |

| Nice Place to catch some Zzzz and watch the world goes by...
This is the PCC off SOHO. A well kept secret of an outlet store brought MissPiggy to this area in the middle of the afternoon...
PCC is the most popular coffee joint in HK and they are like everywhere. The standard fare applies and i did my day's Grande Latte. The plush seats are plenty and the aircon at a nice temperature. They do happen to have an attached toilet, a big relieve for most i am sure.
The main difference is that this is set at the corner of Lyndhurst and Hollywood road and you can sit and watch the people going about shopping, delivering things, bumping into long lost friends, etc etc...unlike the other stores that may not have that much of a view. |

| Famous Iced Milk Tea!
This Cha Chan Teng is partonised by the HK SuperStars like Kenny B and Alan Tam. The key draw is their Iced Milk Tea. To help preserve the full strength and taste of the Milk Tea, they actually freeze the milk tea into ice cubes and add 2 cubes of it to every order of Iced Milk Tea! So much efforts into this at a Cha Chan Teng.... Amazing!
They have a stipulation that whole day on Sundays as well as Mon-Fri between Lunch Time, Minimum spending of HKD$25 is imposed to help reduce the chances of people going in just for their Iced Milk Tea!
Miss Piggy had the Lo-Ting with Lunch Meat and Sunny side up eggs. SO had the Pork Bun. He commented the pork dun has shrunked in size compared to last time...(rising food costs!) Miss Piggy Lo-Ting is delish and very generous in portions with 3 semi-rounds of lunchmeat, 2 eggs sunnyside-up and a small portion of cooked cabbage.
Lunch Time set costs $38 for the lo-ting set plus drink.
As this is a very tiny and busy establishment, be prepared to share tables and also get the occasional bump and nudge as people try to move about.... |

| Dixie Land Music - la-di-la-la.....
This little hidden spot on Ashley Road is well patronised by locals as well as tourists.
A big live band plays Dixie-land music to a most appreciative crowd. Scores of people come here just for the Live Band even Korean Tourists by the bus-load!
Dark wood and pretty old, Miss Piggy got her share of Tetleys and Carlsberg here. The boss himself is an old Brit Veternan. Laid back and casual, be prepared to share your seats and booths and let the good times roll! |

| bird bird pigeons pigeons...*flap*
This is at the top of LKF and near the end of the row. I came with a girl friend after doing shopping and was really feeling the need for a nice cold thirst quenching beer.
They have an impressive list of beers on tap as well as a selection of bottled beers. As usual miSS pIGGy had her Hoegaarden, gf wanted a pot of tea...
They serve you peanuts and you can "litter" the shells on the floor! It was pretty early in the afternoon and the pigeons are just wondering and flapping around happily trying to peck some nuts for munch munch. If you are afraid of pigeons flying around your head, i will highly recommend you to come here at night when the birds go to roost. Dun try to catch the pigeons though they are not scare of humans and will wander close close close to your legs...
Beers are comparatively cheaper than SG a pint is only HKD$40. |

| *** hey Cuba! The drum rolls! The salsa dancers are coming!***
I was dining with JM and a true blue Cuban here the other night. According to Mr. Cuban's comments, the food is not pure Cubana style but a bit of a fusion of Mex-Brazilian-South American touch. We later had a chit chat with the very friendly manager Shukor and he confirm that the food tasting and style has been slightly modified to suit the main stream market yet has the origins that is mainly Cuban.
The drinks of the night: Mojitos and Margaritas! Strong and potent, these pack a punch! The food started with Yuzu Brava(fried tapioca bits with salsa dip),Quesadilla (tortilla skin with fillings of beef and cheese), Sauteed king prawns in garlic and olive oil, Grilled Chicken Breast with Cuban rice and desserts of Flambe banana with ice cream.
The yuzu bits are like deep fried potato with a nice tomato relish. Quesadilla is normal, 4 pieces with some ground beef and onions and cheese. This is quite ordinary like a better made, higher quality Taco-Bell. The prawns are fresh and well done, one of the best dishes of the night. Miss Piggy is not a fan of chicken breast as i felt that chicken breast tend to be quite dry and plus been grilled it gets drier. The Cuban rice is nice though with bits of raisins in it to add to the fragrance. The banana flambe was very well presented but was a tad bit too sweet for my taste. The ice cream is smooth but unfortunately added to the overall sweet factor of the already too-sweet desserts.
The best highlight will be the live band. They have singers and musicians from Spain, Cuba and even Colombo! There is so much energy and a most fabulous vibe. If you salsa, you can even rock to the beat at the small dance floor they clear for this very intention!
MiSS pIGGy maybe will come back here for the entertainment but most prob after filling my tum tum somewhere else first. |
