| Odd way of making up for overcooked eggs
Went there for brunch on a saturday morning. Mum and I shared the blueberry waffles, eggs benedict on corn waffles, two sunny side up eggs, and a carrot cake.
Eggs benedict (they call it eggs benny) on corn waffles:
- The corn waffles were nice and I thought I might enjoy them on their own. But still prefer the traditional bread with my eggs benedict.
- Hollandaise sauce was okay, not particularly flavourful.
- Ham: Nice texture
- Poached eggs: The first egg yolk I cut into was almost fully cooked! More cooked than a ramen egg yolk. I pointed this out to the waitress and she said she would get me another. Relieved, I worked on the other food.
A while later, someone (who may well have been the owner, seeing as to how he wasn't wearing a uniform) placed a plate of two poached eggs on our table and walked away! I was stunned. Not being in the mood to pick a fight, I proceeded to reassemble my own eggs benedict by putting the new poached eggs on the now cold and soggy waffles. I had to try to wipe the hollandaise sauce off the original eggs on to the new eggs. It ended up a sorry mess. Way to go, service recovery!
Blueberry waffles were okay, can't complain. Not enough maple syrup for our tastes but that was easily remedied by asking for more. It came in a little chinese saucer which got the table all sticky because some syrup inevitably wraps around the side when you're done pouring it.
Sunny side up eggs - no comments.
Carrot cake was huge. At $9, it had better be. The cake itself was satisfying with enough nuts and raisins and all that. The cream cheese glaze was a bit too sweet for my liking.
They didn't give my mum milk for her coffee. And didn't give me any sugar for my tea.
If you are fussy about your tea like me, just some comments. The tea is from this brand "Tea Drop" and the English Breakfast Tea I had did not taste like English Breakfast Tea. As is the case with most places, the tea wasn't strong enough for the amount of water they put in the tea pot. Not a place for tea as the only normal black tea they had (without funny infusions) was the English Breakfast Tea.
Will probably come back because the ambience is nice and I want to try some of the other food. But I won't be expecting great service!

SkinnyFoodie on G7 Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant (Havelock Road): Always reliable Ya...it's a yummy restaurant to visit. Thanks for the reminder. Long time no go liao. It's usually quiet noisy. I normally go during office lunch time, even then, the crowd varied in type and sizes, hence, it can be very noisy.
