Food and service up to expectation (or probably beyond)

Called up Basilico to make a reservation for 2 for the UOB creative chef experience. The staff attentively take down my reservation and my special request for a nice quiet corner seats.

Went there with my best friend after a hot afternoon in Sentosa. We received warmth welcome at the door which quickly shown us to our seat.

Food/Beverage:

We did not know what to order and since is suppose to be a chef creative experience, we leave it to the chef. (we chose the 3 course meal)The restaurant manager checked with us on what are our dietary restriction, and my friend replied to avoid daily product and for me there is none.(I eat almost everything and anything as long as it is good)

Before we ordered the wine, I asked the manager what kind of meat are we expecting. The sauve manager replied , depending on what kind of wine we prefer. We preferred red of cos! He offered us the wine list, which mostly from Italy. Probably not my favorite thou, so we ordered a glass of recommended Italian Merlot each (abt $25 each glass).

First course - lobster Lingullni... cool half portion, which i think they are very generous with their lobster.

Second course - Waygu beef with foe grie... Very generous portion for the steak (at least a 300gm I guess) and almost the same size for the foe grie too!!! COOL..... thou the steak did not really came as I had requested (Medium rare), but still taste great.

I didnt manage to finish my beef.cos I was so full and wanna leave a little space for the dessert. My best friends struggled to finish it.

Third course - Apple strud with peach and sorbert. Not too fantestic as compare to the first 2 dishes, but still nicely done. I finished mine while my friend raise the white flag...(she was too full...)

Ambience:

Nice seating and I liked the open kitchen concept. Only thing I picked on is probably the "buffet" area, which i think they can do without it and also is a bit eye sore to me. If you like to have some nice Italian food with great ambience, dont mixed with the buffet concept. Is it quality or quantity???

Value:

Definately worth it.. For less than $100 and you get lobster, waygu beef, foe grie...and of cos, the quality of food and the chef definately worth the parise.

Service:

Great!!! EVERY staff are so helpful, prompt service and you can feel that they enjoy working here. The staffs will check if everything is all right. There is this Jap couple next table, which can't really speak English, however, the staff still make an afford to come and chat with them. The chef also made an effort to chat with us and offered us his name card.
The manager is very friendly and probably a little "cheeky" - probably that how he handle pretty gals like us :P He made funny remarks when my friend cant finish the dessert. Given is a new outlet, the servers here are all so well trained.

A great place to hang out! I am going to try again for the chef's creation in a few weeks time. let's see what surprise they can give me.

I also recommend this place for

Thank you for your very useful review. I am a wine enthusiast and unfortunately your review doesn't mention any names of wine that you tried. Can you remember? It would be very useful to include this information.

Agreed, went there once and that was the last time. Try Hokkaido, Akira and Tokyo (Amara shopping center). much better service and deals.
