Yummy Suckling Pig

We were ushered into the private room as the restaurant was encouragingly full for a Tuesday night. It was my 1st visit to Otto even though I'd always wanted to try their oft-raved about food.

Service was reasonably good so there isn't anything to complain about.
Food wise, I can't speak for all eight of us but I'll just give my 2 cents worth on what I ordered.

For starters, I culd not resist ordering their scrambled egg with shaved truffles. It's truffle season & it would be criminal to walk out of the restaurant without having some. The eggs came & the chef came personally to shave the aromatic truffles onto the dish which I proceeded to demolish in less than 5mins. It wasn't that great to be honest....I just L-O-V-E truffles! The eggs were a little over-salted in my opinion & it did take me a little longer to finish the last few mouthfuls of egg.

I'd originally intended to order the ravioli as someone had declared it the best he'd ever eaten in the world but when I saw the saliva-inducing description of the suckling pig, I changed my mind & boy, am I glad I did. Every bite was melt-in-the-mouth as promised & there wasn't any hint of 'porky' smells that usually accompany pork dishes. I savoured every bite & saved the best for last - the crispy skin! I would have had seconds if my tummy permitted.

The next time I visit Otto, I plan to order the ravioli. A friend who ordered it that night was defnitely impressed with it although she was less than impressed that there were only 7 of them on her plate.

I will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu & would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

on Tatsuya Japanese Restaurant (Goodwood Park Hotel): Never Again
I must try Aoki soon but I must say that I found the uni at Tatsuya to be exceedingly fresh and super tasty. Certainly beats those I had at Nogawa, Shiraishi, Akashi and Chiharu ... And never have I found any fish scale in my sashimi, not in the way too many times I have been there!
