| Glorious "double skin" steamed milk?
This milk stuff that locals translate as "double skin steamed milk?" is awesome man! It is like a pudding but with a delicate texture and creamy flavor that is amazingly delicious. If you are in Hong Kong this is a must. I can usually take two helping each visit. It is that good! |

| Good Chinese food
I am not sure if this restaurant group is from Hong Kong or Singapore but I see this in both countries. No matter, this place is packed for lunch even on a Wednesday! Luckily we had a reservation made by our business associates.
No exactly a place to talk business, it being pretty loud when packed. Food is as good as any I've had in Singapore (but I have not been to too many restaurants in Singapore). The "crispy noodles" are fantastic - not sure what you call it but I liked that very much.
Roast Chicken is juicy and skin perfectly crisp. A delightful dish even if it is supposed to be a "simple" Chinese dish. Assorted roast meats are good but a tad below what you can find in Hong Kong or Toronto and Vancouver. Shrimps with salted "egg yoke" is a little too salty for me but shrimps are fresh and crunchy. Don't really remember all the dishes but the steamed fish is great as well.
Overall it is a good dinning experience. Not sure how much it cost though, being business lunch paid by Singaporean counterpart. =) |

| This curry rocks!
A Singaporean friend introduced me to this place after I asked her about Japanese curry in Singapore. Been on the road a bit so kinda miss mum's weekly curry cook out. I won't be home for a while so was lookin for some substitute to tide me over. =)
This place serves some of the best Japanese curry I've ever had period. Authentic stuff man. Even mum can't cook this. My work had taken me to enough cities for me to say this is one of the best Japanese curry outside Japan.
Who would have thought in Singapore? I like Singapore and the people I meet here are fantastic but not exactly somewhere I expect to find authentic Japanese curry.
I particularly enjoyed the Hire Katsu and the Beef curry. If you are a fan of Japanese curry this is good stuff. Good food and great company makes a magnificent evening. Will be back when I come back to Singapore next trip. |

| Affordable Japanese
Itamae-sushi simply stands out from the rest of the restaurants in a country where every other shop is a restaurant or cafe. Not talkin bout the food, but the long lines that form up upfront during lunch and dinner. Even when you get there at 9pm you still have to wait like 40minutes for seats! I sure haven't seen a casual Japanese dining restaurant so buy in Manhattan.
Anyway, this is regular Japanese fare that is pretty good for the price. Raw fish and sushi being the highlight. The crazy crowds keep the fish fresh - i kinda think it is impossible they have much left over every day =)
Something I can eat every other day if not for the killer lines. |

| Good Dim Sum
Some colleagues brought me to this place when I first arrived in Hong Kong a while back. Dim Sum on sunday is an integral part of the lifestyle in HK. The place is packed for lunch and the vibrant setting is similar to what I have experienced in NY Chinatown. I don't eat dim sum too often so this is actualy refreshing =)
A lot of stuff was ordered but I am not too sure what is what except the shu mai. Overall food was good and the company was fantastic. Got to know some new colleagues and get accustomed to the local culture. Will be back when I am in Hong Kong again. =) |
