Quality food with a huge price tag

Woah this is a long overdue review but well. Better late than nothing! ;)

Well it was festive season and we had a TungLok voucher so I decided my family and I could try out this neat spanking white restuarant located in Vivocity.

The menu was interesting, although not extensive. But what intrigued me was that the server managed to "go into the kitchen" and literally emerged with a handwritten menu by the cook, with recommended dishes created with available fresh seafood. Regretfully, the price tag for just 4 of us was so alarming, I just had to try and mask my shock and as politely as I could, reject the proposal and revert back to the old trusty menu. Though I THOUGHT the server's face changed abit, but she still stayed on to introduce some "commoner's dishes" which will go down well with rice so I thought that was pretty decent of her.

Order was:
Claypot brinjal - very tasty!
The Eight Treasures - great mix of vege but serving size...
Spring Chicken - not that memorable
Braised tofu - good sauce
Fried rice - nice...
And my Favourite of the night! Clams with vermicilli! At $9 PER PIECE (ouch). I like how tender the clam is and the vermicilli soaks up the freshness of the sauce with the fragrance of garlic...yums

In summary, I would think that IF you are loaded, the customized menu will probably be marvellous. A pity I haven't "reached that level" yet. So at about $50 per pax. The meal was not too bad, maybe abit on the saltish side.

Might just come back for the better foods if I strike lottery! ;)

I also recommend this place for
Type of meal:Dinner
Occasion:Large Groups/Gathering, Children/Family, Client Meetings/Business Dining, Corporate Functions
Atmosphere:View/Scenery, Waterfront

hi :) am quite amazed to see a response on a review so long ago.. ;p Not sure how my review rubbed you up the wrong way. I do like that place and I believe I gave it quite a high rating. The portion about dessert wasn't a "complaint", just a comment :) Plus I guess I do not have the luxury of being born with a sliver spoon, nor enjoy a paycheck so huge I can eat anything without feeling the pinch etc. Hope that answers your question and I do not represent the masses of Singapore definitely. Why is everybody in Singapore obsessed with having big portions and getting the cheapest deal they can? Surely food is about taste not quantity and quality that you must pay for. Not piles of food on a plate at a bargain basement price. If you want that go to a food court not a French restaurant.
