| cone-shaped crispy pancakes
have long heard of this place but have not felt the impulse to make the trip till this weekend.
the pancakes come in two forms; either the usual thick, slightly sticky form (70cents a piece) or a paper thin, crispy form that is shaped into a cone ($1 a piece).
choice of filling includes: red bean, peanut, coconut, cheese, chocolate. pay 20cents additional for the cheese filling.
the thick version was warm w/ thin crispy sides. there was a generous filling of peanuts, which spilled out in all directions each time i took a bite. the dough is slightly sweet - nice even when eaten on its own. unlike some locations, the peanut filling here is not mixed with sugar... healthier? yea maybe.. but i like it better w/ a little sugar mixed in. :P
the cone-shaped version was delightfully light and crispy. but because of its shape and 'dryness', only small specks of the filling stayed (after it being rolled into shape). this means, im basically eating a 'plain pancake' w/ a light hint of peanut taste....
the stall owners must be doing a thriving business to be able to afford a day off on mondays and to work half day, everyday, just selling pancakes.
a place to visit for a different form (cone-shaped) of 'min jiang kueh'.
