| Yummy food!
The week started just perfect with a very good dinner among friends. I am usually not a big fan of Spanish food, but after checking out the reviews here and saw the picture of the paella, I just had the biggest craving.
While deciding on what to eat we started off with the red wine sangria. It was the best sangria I have ever had away from poolside in Spain! Perfect mixture of the wine, soft drink and fruit, yum.
We started with a mixed platter cheese, sausages and ham. Ok, but not spectacular. My friends also ordered some tapas and the one that stood out was the oven baked eggplant, very tasty! And a big serving too. The other tapas was the meatballs and crabmeat/avocado mush, ok, but not fantastic. Service at the beginning was a bit slow due to many guests but picked up as the evening went along and the free flow of bread to go with the tapas was a nice touch.
But now to the main, the paella. I ordered the special which has plenty of seafood which I love. But what was the best was the very rich and tasty rice. It had been beautifully crafted by a pro! Strong flavour of seafood, chicken and the sausage, melting in my mouth. Double yum. Unfortunately, my friend had the vegetarian paella and it was as plain as mine was perfect.
After that we were too full for dessert but still had some sangria to enjoy before the evening was over.
The ambience is not that fantastic, average looking decco and could have been mistaken for any kind of lunch place. Not breathing the heat and warmth a Spanish restaurant should, needs work.
To summarize; perfect drink, not memorable tapas and perfect paella. Will definitely be back when the craving calls for paella. |
