don't be fooled by the name!

First off: this is not a restaurant. If you come here expecting ambience and waiters/waitresses at your beck and call, you're likely to leave more than a little disappointed. In fact, my mum actually commented that she felt like she was eating in a canteen...

The Setting
Dining in IKEA is just like eating at any other cafe, but with ten times the noise. This place is quite popular with families on weekends, so make sure you leave someone to hog seats at a table before trooping off for the goodies. That said, the design is simple and clean, especially at the front where you collect your food... me likes!

The Food
Self-service. They have a delectable array of cakes and desserts, which are unfortunately quite expensive (for my standards), and a few "main courses". I had the poached salmon with potatoes and broccoli. The salmon was DRY. The potatoes were DRY. The broccoli was COLD. Ugh. I couldn't even finish the meal... 'nuff said. I should've tried out the swedish meatballs instead, or the chicken wings everyone seems to be raving about over here.

The Service
Responsive, if a little sullen. Don't expect any smiles to come your way and you'll do fine ;)
Have to mention that you're supposed to clean up by yourself afterwards, by bringing the tray to a designated area somewhere near the entrance. I think it's a great move! Kudos to IKEA for successfully getting lazy people like me haul their butts out to actually do something useful. =)

To sum up...
Not the most pleasant of experiences. BUT! I was feeling unwell that day so that probably made me more irritable and harder to please... so take this review with a pinch of salt ;) I'm sure you'll find it better than I did.

Edit: How could I have forgotten this?! Many thanks to Shu Yen Kor and Cute Kitten for telling me that it's possible to fool around with html tags in reviews!

I also recommend this place for
Type of meal:Lunch, Dinner
Occasion:Children/Family
Atmosphere:Vibrant/Noisy
