| Nice place, disappointing food
The long queues that I always see whenever I pass by aroused my curiosity. But they are also the reasons why I have deferred from coming here to eat. A $35 voucher which my gf has persuaded me to eat here at last.
Upon reaching the place, reasonably long queue was already in place. Undeterred and determined to use the voucher before it expires, we stood patiently in line for our turn. It took about 20 minutes for us to be shown to a table which I thought was quite alright.
Ordered:
1) Mushroom Cuppaccino Soup ($6.90)
The soup was a strange mixture of mushroom and coffee (latte?). The first few sips were quite ok, but the coffee taste and foam eventually got to me and I became a bit sick of it. Could not finish it. Not a big fan of fusion food.
2) Smoked Salmon Salad ($12.90)
This has to be best thing I have tasted here, relative to the 3 items I ate here. My gf is a big fan of smoked salmon. To me, it tastes like what you can get from the supermarket. We finished this dish promptly, maybe due to our hunger from waiting for the main dish, which is the chicken.
3) Rotisserie Chicken Whole ($16.90)
Take note: There is a half chicken which is going for $13.90 and this whole chicken for $16.90. Go for the whole if 2 people are eating. Purely for economical reasons. Saw the next table eating 2 half chickens and us eating a whole chicken. Looks the same to me, except of a savings of nearly $10 for my table.
Tastewise, I was quite disappointed. The marination did not seem to get into the chicken too much. The chicken is bland and almost tasteless compared to Kenny Rogers which I eaten just the day before. We finished the chicken anyway, as we do not want to waste food.
Disappointing overall experience. But surely there is something which kept the queues forming...The burgers? The desserts? Maybe next time, if I have a $35 voucher again. |
