| Rustic Singapore....Good Chili Con Carne!
Situated in Seletar Camp, this place def isn't an easy place to find. If our friends didn't lead the way, we would have been lost for sure.
Tucked deep inside a airbase in Singapore, the pub is a hidden gem! The surrounding is still very rural. Driving through the airbase, passing all the old colonial black and white bungalows...it was a pleasant journey through one of the few places left in Singapore that actually still feels rural like.
We made this hike after hearing a lot about the wonderful buffalo wings they serve. On the menu, they offer wings from level 1 (mildist) to level 10. I heard that it actually goes all the way to level 30!
We ordered level 1 and level 3, we weren't ready to test the boundaries on our first trip there. Verdict? Level 1 was def managable....the blue cheese served on the side to ease the heat was not needed. For those who aren't chilli fiends, i think level 1 will be just right. You will get a kick, but your tastebuds won't be screaming for mercy.
Special mention goes out to the chili con carne...this was fabulous, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Served with 2 pieces of garlic bread...this dish was my favourite. Nice proportions of beef, beans and gravy. The flavour was intense, at the same time the curry spices and chilli didn't overwhelm the dish. Fabulous. I just wish they had more cheese on the top and a serving of sour cream. But over all...FABULOUS. I would go back just for that again...and I would save more space in my belly so that I can devour more of it!

| I enjoyed it...
After reading the feature on Food & Travel magazine this month on a place in the east serving good Xiao Long Bao, I have been meaning to try it. A big fan of these little soupy gems, and since it is the east, it was an added bonus…this place was really quite close to home!
We ordered a serving of their house speciality, xiao long bao. The mince pork was flavoured to perfection. It was a perfect balance when you bite into the thin skin and the burst of broth and mince meat was just right. Not too salty…but seasoned well enough that there isn't a "porky" taste.
We also ordered the spinach skin xiao long bao with prawns and scallops. This didn't have much of a broth in it, but they were very generous with the prawns. The spinach skin gave this dish a very nice twist… very unique.
You must must try the mango sago and pomelo dessert...one bowl can be shared...and man it was refreshing on a hot sunday afternoon!

| No Thanks!
After hearing on the morning show about La Braceria, I was very keen on checking out the place. The food was suppose to be top notch and very reasonably priced. They are famous for their homemade sausages and wood oven pizzas.
A good friend and I was scheduled for a meet up, so naturally I suggested La Braceria. Talk about coincidence! He has been there, and he said that the sausages were fantastic. He made a reservation and we were all geared up for a nice meal.
Unfortunately, this place was a disappointment, and I won't go back again. The sausages tasted like sawdust....the potatoes that came with my main was FRIDGE COLD! Come on...that is just not acceptable.

| Lovely Seafood Joint
Was introduced to this place a couple years back, and now it is the only place we take friends for overseas for a seafood dinner here in Singapore.
You must try the Bamboo clams if it is available...it is steamed with some light soya sauce, garlic and spring onions....very good.
Other stuff we have ordered and enjoyed:
Steamed prawns (very fresh, big and crunchy. You can taste the sweetness of these little babies)
Black Pepper crabs (very generous with their pepper in this dish. But man it is cooked to perfection. The crabs are always sweet with very firm flesh)
Chilli crab (I always ask friends if they prefer the chilli crab or the pepper crabs. And the review is always mixed. Some prefer the pepper, others prefer the chilli. Personally I prefer the pepper if i had to choose)
Mee Goreng (very unique, they actually have french fries tossed in it)
Kang Kong Belachan with Cuttlefish (VERY SHOIOK...enough said) |

| Value For $$
I have been to this place quite a few times now. And the standard has always been good.
Small restaurant so I would recommend making a reservation even on a weeknight.
You have to be a "moo" lover to enjoy this place...cos they are famous for their ribeye steak with free flow fries.
For about $33, you get a nice warm bread roll, a garden salad with a mustard dressing, a decent size ribeye steak with free flow fries.
I tried their house wine the last time i was there, and it was actually not too bad!
Overall a good experience. Fantastic place to catchup with friends or to go on a date :).
