Good for young crowd with some good tapas gems. Interesting beer

Disclaimer : came here as part of hungrygowhere review group.

Came here yesterday evening with a bunch of HGW reviewers and met up with Kenneth (owner) and partner. Very young bunch of people! Great job on the entreprenuership route!

Kenneth gave us a pretty good sample of the different foods available. The decor of the place is more like a chill out joint with an indoor and outdoor area. Decor is quite nice and I understand they did it themselves.

One thing to note, their drinks list is quite good with interesting exclusive beers which they import from various places. Kenneth got me a Petrus dark beer which was quite nice. Fruity and with rather strong hops flavouring. Another lady had an orange mix beer which tasted quite good.

Also, their tapas is not all spanish and the portions are larger than the usual ones in Europe. Some are good , some not so, I put a ORDER THIS ONE next to the good ones.

We ate :

# Spanish Olives
This one is black, green olives with pickled onions. Quite nice with the drinks.

# Cream Of Tomato
Pretty standard stuff this one.

# All 3 salads of seafood, salmon and grilled peppers.
I liked the peppers best as the vinegratte for the seafood was too strong.

# Garlic Bread
Very good this one. Grilled very well with a slightly spicy tomato sauce. Order this one!

# Tuna Tataki
Very good. Seared raw tuna served with wasabi and radish strings. Order this one!

# Prosciutto di Parma wrapped Cantaloupe
Standard italian fare. The parma is a little not so fresh but the melon was well ripe and the arugula leafs were nice. Order this one!

# Oyster Shooters
The oysters were served with tomato, tabasco sauce and also a shot of vodka (with tabasco at bottom of shot). The vodka is good, the oyster overpowered by the sauce though. Order the shot not the oyster!

# Stir Fried Wild Mushroom
This one is breakfast food and fun! Nicely butter fried mushrooms with sunnyside up quail eggs served with bread. I think this is great finger food with beer! Order this one if with beer!

# Escargot Champignon
This one not so well executed. mushrooms topped with escargot but the snails were overdone and so rubbery.

# Tortilla Espanola - with smoked salmon
This is omelette style egg stuffed with potatoes and topped with Salmon. Quite weird for me but some of our table liked it.

# Angus Beef Cubes
This is standard japanese rendition of beef cubes with garlic slices. Okay only.

# Tiger Prawn - Bacon-ed
This is good. Nice fresh prawns wrapped with bacon and grilled. ORDER this one!

# Arroz Ala Marinera
Ok only. The rice is soaked with the seafood broth and topped with mussels, scallop, prawns.

# Arroz Negro
The one above was better. The squid ink somehow did not enter into the rice. Topped with seafood as above.

# Carbonara
Pretty standard rendition of carbonara. Quite ok.

# Bolognese
This is best of the main dishes. They use beef chunks instead of mince nad it makes all the difference. The pasta was ok but would be better if cooked more aldente. But generally good. ORder this one!

# Spicy Chorizo Pasta (Chorizo is the spanish sausage)
This is sausage with chillis and pasta. Not bad. Again the pasta should not be cut and be more aldente.

# Lemon Gelato
Order this one! Very good lemon gelato... Try to see.

# Coppa Tartufo
Order this one! Good chocolate icecream.

# Double Chocolate Shots
Order this one! White and dark chocolate mixed into a shot to glup down. Sheer sin!

We ended this extremely huge meal with coffee and they serve good coffee too. I find the owner Kenneth a very nice person and I like the attention todetail that he has for his restaurant. I hope they go far in refining this concept and expand to more stores!

on Tapas Wine Bistro: Good for young crowd with some good tapas gems. Interesting beer
Haha, and when you order, do order one dish at a time. My spanish friend laughed so hard at my ordering that he fell off the chair. Typical Chinese style, order 10 dishes then can pick. Spanish order one at a time apparently... But if you do go to Barcelona, do try Taller de Tapas, and in particular, the catalan creme brulee..divine!
