| Disappointing
Getting the attention of service staff is the toughest and most annoying part of dining and Sun with Moon only made it worst. We had staff giving us the eyeball rolls, talk to my hand gestures (if you are not free to reach to us yet, say so, you have no right to give us a five, and the least you could do was face us when u give the five, which you did none.) and blatantly ignoring us and our orders. The only saving grace was a Filipino staff with a proper service attitude and a smile.
For appetisers, we had Soft Shell Crab and Beef Sukiyaki. The crab was crisp and juicy and the beef Sukiyaki was soft and tender absorbing the aroma of the flavourful soup and heaps of veges to compliment it.
We also ordered the Kani & Karasumi rice (Crab) and Yakiniku rice (Beef). It took 30 mins for it to arrive and the service staff had the nerves to tell us that it takes 15 mins to prepare when it had already been 20. Anyway, the rices were awful. The crab rice was so dry I had to drink a cup of tea after every mouthful. The beef rice on the other hand was soggy.
Desserts were Matcha Tiramisu and Sweet Box (Small portion of matcha tiramisu, jelly and fruits, black sesame mochi and vanilla ice cream) The Matcha Tiramisu didn’t taste any special, but it had a distinctively different flavour to that of the Sweet Box. The sweet box one somewhat lacked in the taste compartment, probably because of its smaller size.. The mochi had a well-defined flavour and nice texture.
They have lots to learn from their Orchard outlet |

| Smack at a corner
I was here at about 9pm on a weekday for some desserts. The service staff didn’t seem all that happy we were here. There were no smiles from her the whole time I was there, not even when she was serving others, she just looked so pissed that she is a service staff.
Anyway, we ordered a Tiramisu, 3 Tapas (Pistachio Creme Brulee, Raspberry Panna Cotta & Strawberry Fondue).
My friend raves about their tiramisu all the time, but after trying it, I was not all that amazed. It had lots of flavour, but it didn’t seem quite right and you can taste that the ingredients are cheap.
Then the tapas came in these small dishes that had no proper handles, that the service staff inevitably left his fingerprints on the creme brulee, for heaven sakes, serve it in proper cups or place all the tapas on a big plate. Anyway, the crème brulee was nice, but the pistachio cream was a little over done. The fondue tasted like some cheapskate chocolate syrup. The P.C. was very nice, except the raspberry sauce, which my friend terms the cheap cough syrup.
I have to admit though, the view and setting is pretty nice, but that doesn’t compensate the lousy food and service. |

| Nice restaurant at a corner of Vivocity
We had Linguine Modesto (Seafood Pasta for 2)
Profiteroles (Cream puffs with chocolate sauce)
The complimentary bread was soft and warm but lacked flavor and there was only 1 type.
The pasta was good overall. I loved the tomato-based sauce which was slightly sweet and full. The prawns were crunchy but obviously not super fresh. The clams were very tasty but small, a problem swept away by the generous amount served. In fact, my friend said, there seems to be more calms than pasta. The mussels and squid were pretty good too. Oh, it came with a whole small flower crab too, that had lots of meat. The only problem is that you would be entertaining the service staff with your antics. The pasta was a little hard, would have been better if they boiled it for a little longer. In short, it was a nice pasta chockfull of seafood that came in a fish-shaped plate.
The Cream puffs tasted like what you get outside, there was nothing special about it. The chocolate sauce also seemed to be melted chocolate ice cream and it tasted like it. In short, disappointing.
Nice place to come if you want the whole restaurant to yourself during the weekday, but come early, as the couples stream in at around 8. The restaurant itself is very big, so im guessing its going to be very noisy if its full. |

| So many Reviews on Waraku already
Yes, I have to agree with everyone that the food here is simply mouth-watering, not to mention the extensive menu where you will have a hard time deciding what to eat.
We ordered the
Unatama don (Unagi)
Chicken teriyaki don
Agedashi tofu
Hotate kushi (Scallops in skewers)
Shiratama macha ice cream (with red bean and mochi)
and Dorayaki Tempura ice cream (Fried ice cream)
The only issue I had were that the servings were small and that the don had more rice than anywhere else. Anyway, back to the food. The dons were cooked nicely with lots of flavours, except that there were so much rice, we had to take the tofu and scallops to complement it. The scallops were grilled to perfection and accompanied with an amazing sauce.
The tofu was just as delicious except that that the sauce was way too salty. The ice creams were incredible. The fried ice cream particularly gets my thumbs up, crisp and hot on the outside but still icy cold inside.
Because we were there early, we got the window seats, not that fantastic a view compared to Billy bombers below it as the roof of their alfresco blocks the river, plus the river is not that clean also.
Service was good, as they had someone walking around every 15 mins to top up glasses. They also seemed to be over zealous in their greeting and thank you, shouting out as and when they felt the need to do so, regardless of its necessity. |

| Long Wait
The long wait is obvious when you eat here, we were told that there would be at least 2hrs of waiting, however we were whisk in in less than 30 mins and food took 30 mins to arrive.
We ordered Claypot Beehoon Crab, Butter Crab, Oat Prawns, Yam Ring, Mongolian Pork Ribs and Fried Tofu.
The crabs were actually all overfried. The meat was tough and sticked to the shell. However, the taste was as usual, very good. The prawns too were overfried, but again, they passed the taste test well. The Yam and pork were done nicely and were complemented by everyone. The tofu though, lacked flavour. |

| Lots of Auntie Waitress (Not that their service is bad)
Step foot into this restaurant and you find yourself welcomed by many Aunties, a change to the young punks in all the other restaurants on the same level. Their quaint Chinese décor and water view sets the mood like you are eating in a pavilion by the lake in the period dramas (except its air-conditioned).
We ordered the spinach with century and salted eggs, sweet and sour pork, dian xiao er’s tofu and lotus roots with pork and peanuts soup. The food came out in less than 5 min and they were piping hot. (How efficient can you get?)
The spinach was fried nicely, except that the century egg (that looked like cut mushrooms) didn’t really go well with the spinach. You somehow wish that the egg were really mushrooms. The pork and tofu were cooked to perfection, especially the tofu that was bursting with flavour. The soup could have been boiled longer, because the essence wasn’t really out, ingredients were plentiful though.
Did I mention that there were so many service staff; there was practically 1 Auntie per table. Tea was also being filled immediately when they see your cup is empty. (According to my test, the cups were filled in less than 30 sec of being emptied, this is what I call efficiency.)
For the amount I paid and I got a large portion of food and the quality service was definitely worth it. |

| I'm not coming back here
8pm, Mango pudding, out of stock, banana spilt, out of stock, almond jelly, out of stock. I began to wonder what a nice dessert stall this was. Then we ordered the Mango topping - coconut milk ice. It took more than 15mins to come. Considering that they were only preparing food for one other couple, it was horribly long.
The ice was disgusting. It was extremely sour and sweet. The sweetness came from an overdose of syrup and the mango was just sour. The packet coconut milk tasted just as disgusting. For a cup of this, it cost $4.50. The price I would only pay if it was a restaurant, but no it wasn't, it was just a stall.
It was very warm too, and you were the object of viewing to anyone who walks to The Central from Clark Quay MRT. |

| Complements its neighbour
Let me first say that its neighbour is Billy Bombers and in my opinion, they are a bright contrast of each other.
Let’s start with the good points. The food was really good. The seafood platter for two came with a blowtorch performance (nice try, but get more experience in doing it before going public). Unlike Fish & Co, the dish was not soaking in oil, which was lovely and came in a very big portion (abundance of fries and rice). The fries were nice and crisp. The fish was warm and crisp and not thicken with batter. The prawn sauce was only a tad too sour. The only grumble was that the oysters were upsized with batter instead of substance.
Now the bad points. Though they had the Clark Quay view, it was blocked by their alfresco dining and the settings were too cram. Then there was the burnt smell from all the blowtorching.
Service was weak. Water was not filled until requested and getting the service staff’s attention was tricky. The service staff were either chatting with each other or facing the entrance. Both times I tried to get a staff’s attention, only the one attending the alfresco area noticed me, then the poor staff had to walk in and help me. I shall leave the issue of the first timer taking my order. It was hilarious.
Watch out for the elevated platform if you eat here. (Refer to the Billy Bombers' review for why they complement each other) |

| Exemplary Service
Amazing service once you step foot in the restaurant. Where shall I start? All the service staff were polite, and attended to your every whine. When I spilled my chocolate shake, one service staff immediately came forward to clear the mess, asking another to get the cloth. They even volunteered to help me clean my glass. Napkins were aplenty as they set more aside for you when you used yours. Water was also promptly topped up once it nears the bottom.
The ambience was also nice, with the typical billy bombers decor and the Clark Quay view.
The food though was mediocre, the 'gourmet' burger that I ordered was nonetheless better than BK, the patty was thin, bread was soggy but the sauce was good. The mixed grill my companion ordered had a over-grilled chicken and a paper thin slice of beef. Presentation was also lacking as everything seemed to be dumped on top The fries were pretty good though.
The cost of the meal was riduclous for the food we were getting.
Surprisingly though, it was fairly crowded compared to the other restaurants in the still half-empty Central. The place is a maze and with so many empty shops, you are better off reading the map. |

| Good food that you cannot eat in peace
They had flowing curtains everywhere that helps to seperate tables for a more quiet meal. The service staff doesn't seem to like it though as i see them tackling the curtians like an obstacle course.
The food was amazingly good, other than hundred type of kushiyaki, they had lots of other stuff to offer. The sushi though came very late and fell apart when i picked it up. Obviously their sushi master is not that skilled in making sushi. Need I add that some of them looked pure ugly.
They also have too many service staff that keeps disturbing your good meal.
Remember to try the different kinds of salt too. |
