My favourite weekend hangout spot

Discovered Scrumptious! based on the Top 10 Hidden Finds list on the HGW mainpage and well chuffed about this find.

Scrumptious has become my favourite hangout place during the weekends. A gem like this place really stands out in a place as scruffy as Turf City which has developed into a real activity hub of sorts for adults and kids. For one, the cafe is the perfect place for families / parents to lounge around while waiting for their kids parked at the nearby activity classes. On any given day you’ll find families and parents lounging around, waiting for their kids finishing up their taekwondo/art/etc classes. Just last Saturday I had a great time listening in on the (free) story telling session which the cafe organized (sessions at 1pm, 2 pm and 3pm - not sure if its on a weekly basis though). Even with a strong family attendance, I never feel overwhelmed or out of place like I do in a place like Globetrotters for example.

Cannot agree more on the excellent coffee which Scrumptious serves - I dare say this place is now top on my list in terms of a good cuppa. Using Grinders, their milk based coffees (lattes, cappucinos etc) are extremely well executed - bravo to them (check out the restuarant photos posted by HGW). I usually order the burger, Scrumptious fry up or a pasta dish whenever I am there. All competent, and the emphasis is definitely on fresh ingredients. I’m not a big muffin fan but after trying out their muffins I am a convert. One should definitely check out their first-rate muffins - no essence, all fresh fruit - their banana and blackberry ones are real winners in my books. Also like their waffles.

I love how I can get my bi-weekly mani/pedi done there (comes with a free cuppa too!) while the boyfriend enjoys his brunch / cuppa while surfing the internet or while reading the papers in the main cafe area. That way, everyone is happy. The mani/pedi area is at the back of the cafe which boasts a great view of the greenery outside (how many nail salons can boast such a relaxing view?!) plus the cafe is well-stocked with the latest magazines and journals. The nail area sits just two so you get a great relaxing experience very unlike what you will find in one of the chain nail bars. Yummy Mummies should defintiely take note!

With the competent homemade food, excellent coffee, easy and relaxed feel, I am well pleased with this find. With ample parking as well, this place just makes the perfect weekend chillout joint.
