| Great beer, good food, terrible service
What a shame. I really admire the passion of the guy who set this place up - his beers are fantastic, the place has been beautifully designed, the food is pretty good, the service.....well.
After sitting down (my wife, daughter and my dad) it took 5 minutes to get a menu and 15 minutes (5 sitting patiently, 5 fidgeting around trying to catch someone's eye, 5 waving frantically like someone drowning in the sea) to place a drinks order.
The place was very busy, but nevertheless it took nearly 30 minutes to get two of the four drinks, and even then only because we managed to get the waiter over and threatened to leave immediately. He then took another 10 minutes to bring the other two drinks, claiming they were "changing the barrel".
"But my daughter wants a Sprite and she's been sitting here nearly an hour, are you changing the Sprite barrel too?" my wife asked.
The food (when it arrived) was good, but we were all so angry by then it didn't matter. Any enjoyment we would have experienced had melted away a long time before.
You have to ask the question: why spend so much money setting a place up, then give no attention to the skills of the people staffing it? It's false economy. |
