The Malaysian Food Fair

I had the opportunity to try the recent Malaysian Food Festival at The Square. The Square regularly comes up with themed buffets and has a very informal setting - creating an environment for people to try all sorts of cuisines while having a slow evening of chatter.

For the Malaysian Food Fair, they served the usual bunch of International cuisine such as the Sashimi (fresh and good), Roasted Lamb (a little dry) and Chicken Karaage that would suit hotel guests who are not interested in Malaysian food, but I was there to try their Malaysian delights and hence decided to zoom in on the core delights.

I started out with the duck which is my favourite bird to consume. The duck was tasty marinated in several spices but it tends to be a tad too dry. Next on my taste list was the Beef Bergedil which had a very nice blend of mashed potatoes with chopped beef - probably my favourite dish of the night. The Beef slices was a little heavy but it is clear that a lot of work went into marinating the meat. Finally, I enjoyed the White Fungus Soup which was excellent in washing down all that curries.

One would find that Malaysian food tends to be on the tougher side, so if you have weak teeth, you'll just have to stick to the International options on the table.

On a concluding note, it's still not too late to try as the festival will last till this weekend (6 July 08). And while you are there, do not forget to try their house martini - a nice cocktail to conclude a hard day of work!

I also recommend this place for
